Title: Divorced choke
Post by: still_fishin on May 15, 2020, 09:26:25 PM
Who has a divorced choke laying around? I need one if I'm going to change from the electric choke on the edelbrock to the stove pot style on the dooooooowoooooo quadrajet.  (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200516/dcb6b522827b9d5bf80301ccedbf23c0.jpg)

As im looking online apparently an electric choke conversion is available for the dooooowoooo quadrajets. They seem to be far cheaper new as well.

They are available, but I don't run chokes on any of mine.  Requires a bit of feathering at start up, qjets have plenty of Accel pump to get through that.  Seems my experience on IO boats has been chokes malfunction more than they are worth.

I have always run chokes and will always run them. I refuse to have a boat setup so that I'm the only one that knows the trick to starting it. We can all imagine the combinations here.  Two pumps on the throttle, turn the key, a few rotations and it should be running.  If not,  i might have a serious problem like a stuck float.  Ive had the suck float situation happen to me. I learned that lesson.
