ccgQrs12 / 1980 CVX 18 - $18k/Offer

"UPDATE 5/3/18: A few months back I went forward with the CVX20 so now I
have 3 GC's and I've got to let go of one of them. This CVX18 is a beauty
and someone's going to get a beautiful boat at a great price. I am open to
listen to reasonable offers but just keep in mind that this (boat) is a real
beauty. Feel free to send me a PM and we'll exchange #'s. The Boat is
located in Santa Rosa, Ca. and thanks for your interest. Curtis"

I don’t really want to sell it, I don’t have to sell it but I have the chance to purchase a mint, all original, CVX 20 and I won’t sell my Scimitar so I’m going to probe the marketplace for a OC-type like me who might want this Beauty!

I bought the boat from the second owner (original owner owned the boat for a bit over a year from new); a very low use (previous owner estimated that it had less than 120 hours on it and said this of his friend, the original owner, “he had built the motor up, cam and rollers shortly after he bought the boat from the local Glastron dealer”) and I probably have put 15 hours on it.

I had the boat transported (off-the-road) to California; when the boat went thru the State boarder inspection the State-employed Buffoon / Inspector insisted on seeing the “bilge” and before the transport driver knew it this 290 Lb Gorilla had cut the shrink-wrap and climbed up onto the engine cover damaging a near perfect all original boat (fractured the engine cover nearly all the way across -at the hinge). After a massive search for metal flake a really gifted “glass man” hand blended the flake to a perfect match, built up the cover (to make it more ridged), ground down the surface to the base color and re-shot the entire rear section of the boat to insure a perfect blending of both the gel-coat and the metal flake.

The trailer was disassembled and stripped. New wheel bearings, alloy wheels and tires, new lumber (redwood for the bunks and marine plywood for the steps) hardware and two new custom “tapered” fenders installed then painted (in Imron) and decaled to original – the only difference being that the original trailer decal said “GLASTRON” and the new one’s I had made state “GLASTRON-CARLSON”.

The original distributer had problems so it was replaced with a new HEI unit.
The original carburetor had been rebuilt by the previous owner however it was not functioning correctly; a new (not rebuilt) unit was installed.
The original “MR” series drive had failed; I elected to replace it with a new Alpha 1 unit.
Three of the original gauges were not working and finding suitable OEM replacements was not possible; all gauges were replaced, all but the tach and speedo fit into the original openings, modifications were required (to the original panel) to fit the larger diameter tach and speedo.
The upholstery required some stitching and panel replacement; I had upholstery made-to-match the original.  After this I was able to find a full-roll of material that retains the “marbling” look of the original, enough to redo the entire boat at some point and only if the existing were to be damaged. The upholstery, as it is, is exceptional. The carpet appears to be the original. The stern, floor and stringers are all solid. The boat has always been stored indoors.
The top and hull finishes are also exceptional. There are two very fine (so fine I can’t photograph them and only visible in soft light) spiders - one on each side of the boat @ the gunwale – approx. 18-20” from the trailing edge of the windshield frame.
Performance: The engine sounds “hearty” at idle! I’m not prone to firewalling the boat but I can tell you that acceleration (love the sound of the secondary’s) once the boat plains-out is a head-snapper and the top-end is somewhere beyond 68.5 mph (the last gps reading I was able to read before my skin color started to change!) I figure there’s another 4-7 mph left in it but I haven’t got the nerve to find out.

The Boat looks great in the pictures; it looks better in person and draws attention were ever I’ve taken it. I know that an $18k price tag may seem extreme and though well under what I’ve got tied up in it for what the boat represents someone may find it reasonable particularly if they were to go thru the expense of reproducing a CVX 18 of this quality and originality.

If you’ve a serious interest or know of someone who might feel free to PM me and we’ll exchange phone numbers. Curtis (ccgQrs12)

77 Glastron CVX20 - $11500 (Maple Grove)

77 CVX20 Deluxe in silver. Original gel, very nice. A few blemishes, but not many and very minor. Upper color is great, very minor fade in a few of the crevasses in back. Lower gel shines like new, a few minor winch gouges up by where the handle for the winch can get real close to the boat & you have to be careful.
Original Silver / Grey interior in the timeless 77' style. Little bit of wear on the tops of the front buckets, but very nice original cond. Floor was replaced about 6 years ago. Stringers are solid. New carpet was put down, very close to original carpet.
New audio put in around that time as well. No holes were cut for anything. Stereo mounted in the console, custom speaker boxes made for the speakers to be mounted discrete and out of the way. Sounds nice.
Motor was rebuilt professionally about 5 years ago ($3500 plus another $400 - $500 for dyno time to dial it in. 390 hp after the rebuild. Changes in the rebuild from stock, went from 8-1 compression to 9.5-1. Different cam, more suited to a jet boat power band. HEI distributer to get rid of the points dist. Carb was also rebuilt professionally at that time.
Trailer is nice. Original 77, tires are like new, no issues. All lights work. Leaf springs have been replaced. Good solid trailer, has bearing buddies, no brakes. I would have no concerns pulling it a long distance, it's solid.
Original cover. Has the original bow (designed to keep cover up in rain). Have original manuals / brochures. Has extra dust / light duty garage cover that has some tears / holes, but it works.
Deluxe equipment - Original ladder, ski pole, console. Nice, nearly un-blemished windshield, not scratched up at all. Air horn on the hood, origninal dealer installed option.
All other gauges work (speedo, tach, volts, temp, oil pressure). Gas gauge could use a little attention - it appears the float in the tank is stickey. Has an automatic bilge, and bilge blower fan, all fine, original stuff.
This boat has been well cared for. Always garaged, and always stored inside.
I have owned this boat since 2004. Only a fresh water boat. I have had two boats for the last 4 years, so this now gets used once or twice a summer, as my family prefers we use the other boat.
If you want something turnkey, that needs almost nothing, this would be it.
At 41 years old, it is a very well preserved peice of history.

$1000 price drop … $500 price drop ...

1973 Glastron Carlson CV 16 - $4500 (Kansas City)

Due to my health I am forced to sell my Glastron Carlson CV-16, this is a very rare boat and the same that appeared in the movie James Bond " Live and let die". I brought this boat home 3 yrs ago to restore and have many hours invested in its restoration. It still has the original "café" type back to back seats in it. I installed a 90 hp Johnson outboard with power trim and tilt, with 140 lbs compression so this motor is definitely one that will last a while. I also put in new gauges that still have yet to be finished hooked up, a new stereo radio and a new rubber bumper guard on the outside of the boat. I took the boat out to Smithville lake once last summer and it ran great, only time it has been in the water since I finished restoration. I put the original steering wheel back on it although have a new spare if one would prefer it. It has a new fuel tank and a new battery although it may need a recharge and a restored 16 ft trailer it sits on. I have done some research on this boat and found that it's worth is between 6000-8000 depending on condition and options, this boat has a new floor and in like new condition.. If interested in viewing this boat contact me

Vintage 1967 Glastron GT-160 - $1 (Sartell/Remer)

It's a project. Carbs need to be cleaned, but it ran just fine for its age 2 years ago.
The boat is a '67 and the engine is a '68. Glastron only made this hull for 67-68, so it's pretty rare.
As with any boat this age, it needs stringers, floor, and transom.
Upholstery was new 3 years ago.
Trailer pulls down the road extremely well. Has a 2" ball and a spare tire.
I have other projects, and this one is down on the list so make me an offer.
Would also consider trading for a 3000-4000 psi pressure washer.

1981/2018 SSV-167, no motor / $5800
http://www.classicglastron.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11570 (http://www.classicglastron.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11570)

Well I didn't think I would do this, but our boating wants/needs have changed and this Glastron SSV-167 that I have been restoring for nearly 2 years is now for sale. So you're looking at the price, and I know what you're thinking..."What? No motor for that price???" I promise you that you will be impressed by my modern take on this classic boat and you'll like what you see. Take a look around and see if you can find another SSV-167 for sale. There might be a couple (there are), but I guarantee that NONE of them compare to this one...even without a motor. This is an increasingly rare Glastron model, and I won't say that there was no expense spared (I didn't have it painted professionally, for example), but I was very careful in choosing all components and made sure to make quality decisions because I wanted this boat to be the best 16' classic boat on the lake. I have over $6000 in this boat as it sits today...so what you're getting is a virtually brand new boat that just needs an engine to get going on the water.
Here's what I've done-
Complete teardown, I split the cap and hull. New stringers and cross members. New floor with marine grade ¾" plywood. The floor is completely filled with flotation foam, except the ski storage and fuel tank bays, water drainage front to back is installed. I used marine epoxy and polyresin where applicable.
Nautolex floor covering front to back. SeaDek can be applied on top of this, which was my plan for next year.
Brand new transom made from two laminated layers of ¾" marine grade plywood. Solid as can be.
Stripped down to base gelcoat, primed with Petit Marine Primer, painted in International Orange and Dark Gray AwlGrip Top Coat paint. This is a trailer boat and all of the experts I talked to said not to worry about bottom paint. The paint isn't perfect...but it's damn good.
Completely new interior. I did not use a single piece of original interior flooring, seating, or sidewalls. I had a hotrod upholstery specialist (Mike at Unique Customs, Pulaski, WI) do the entire interior (except driver and passenger seats, which are brand new Wise seats mounted on Attwood swivel pedestals) for me and it looks the price I paid for it all (a shade over $1900 in all, it's beautiful).
Brand new 18 gallon in floor fuel tank from RDS in Florida. All new fuel hoses (Continental), new fuel vent, new fuel filler.
Two brand new batteries. #1 is a 1000MCA/800CA (Napa) and the other is a 650MCA/550CA (Fleet Farm). Both of them have new battery trays.
Battery 1 / 2 switch (Blue Seas 9001e) that will run them individually, or combine them.
The windshield glass is original, but I took the frames apart and had them anodized in black, and I cut the "flying buttress" section away to make for a more modern look. Green Bay Anodizing did this work for me.
All new gauges, new steering wheel, new Jensen speakers (but I have not installed a stereo head. I have my idea of where I would mount it but didn't purchase one). The speedometer has all new plumbing and new blade. New anchor currently stored in the bow seats.
Completely new wiring front to back with new fuse block.
All new LED lighting for bow and stern. New stern light base mount. The stern light when not used is hidden mounted under the ski locker cover.
Two new wooden paddles and a dock cleat grabber.
New reboarding ladder that I modified to a folding ladder fit in storage.
New air horn system (loud and sounds VERY Italian!).
New boat cover.
The only items that I did not replace, due to availability and wanting to keep some original character, are the rub rail, bilge air scoops, cleats, rub rail corner pieces...really wanted to replace those but was not able to find new ones...and bow grab rails.
The trailer is a 2006 ShoreLand'r that has a new crank, new Shelby jack, new bow bumper, freshly restored wheels and bearing buddies, and brand new tires (zero miles). All lighting works and all grounds checked and verified solid. Wheel bearings greased June 2018. New Boat Buckle tie down straps.
This is a 95%+ BRAND NEW boat and I am so proud of this restoration. You will be too. I have a 20 page build log available on the Classic Glastron forum if you want to see every detail along the way. It's all documented, and it's all done correctly...and dare I say...better than new.

Up for sale is my beautiful Glastron CVX 18. It was purchased in the US a few years back. You would be hard pressed to find one in better condition. It draws attention wherever it goes. Engine was replaced by a 327 ( sounds amazing)in the 90's also the upholstery was done the same time. Custom autometer gauges, through hull exhaust. I am not sure I want to sell it as I looked for years to find a good one. Always stored indoors. No rotten floors unlike most of the junk out there. Unfortunately, the to lack of use the engine has developed an oil leak that needs to be addressed. Runs like it did new. No trades. It will be for sale until sold or I change my mind.
Yet another version of the cvx 18 hood

Glastron CVX16 SS - $950 (Lilburn)

Glastron Carlson CVX16SS for sale, this is a project boat that needs transom fixed. I have all interior that needs redoing, everything is there to have a nice boat. No blistering on hull, has the 3.0 mercruiser engine with mercruiser out drive. The trailer has new trailer light wiring with new submersible lights, alone is worth 500.00 and the windshield is worth about 500.00. These boats were featured in many James Bond 007 movies. Engine and out drive are currently removed. I don't have time for another project right now so it has to go. If you parted it out could easily get 2000 back. Current registration till July of 2019

1986 glasstron cvx18 for sale. Boat has a mercruiser 5.7 350 in it with low hour alpha one drive. Starts and runs great and has good oil pressure. Boat is fast, will do about 60 mph, a bigger carb would wake it up even more. Easy on fuel as long as you are easy on the throttle... $2950 cash, price is firm right now. Email me your number and I will call you back.

Glastron GT 150 with 115 HP Johnson outboard - $800

Selling my little speed boat since I am getting something electric.

The good:
No leaks at all, the motor starts and runs strong. Trailer and tires are in good shape, motor has tilt\trim.

The bad:
The controls only control the throttle, the switch panel up front controls the rest. The shift cable is disconnected; the last time I used it I just had pliers I used to move it back and forth. I would advise just getting a control box and plugging it in if you dont want to mess with it. Seats have some damage, but you can still sit on them. I took the battery out and have since repurposed it.

I haven't used this in over a year, and it is at my parents house, so I won't be showcasing it, starting it up, or taking it out on the water for you. Feel free to come take a look and put your best reasonable offer forward.

Glastron Carlson - $2800 (Williamsburg)

1977 Glastron Carlson CVX-16 for sale. The boat is 17 ft. with a 6'8" beam and weighs 700 pounds without the motor. The trailer is in great shape with good tires. This boat has a 1990 Johnson 115 HP (Model #J115TLESB) outboard that has been maintained yearly. The boat has been run only in fresh water to my knowledge. I have been running it in Chickahominy lake for the past six years. It was previously registered in Ohio when I bought it. I have only used non-ethanol gas. The previous owner redid the floor and added carpeting a new gas tank. Everything is functional and is ready to go. The boat has plenty of power and will do 50 mph with two people in the boat. Call me to come take a look.

Speed Boat / Ski Boat - Goes Really Fast!!! - $3750 (Lutz)

If you want to go really fast on the water - here's your chance! My dad's 16' Glastron Carlson is for sale, with a 150 HP Mercury motor and trailer. He's had it up to 70 mph, it can pull multiple skiers / boarders / etc. It has hydraulic tilt and lift for the motor which just got fixed at the marine shop. He babied this boat and has had it at least 10 years, it needs a little cosmetic TLC, but handles beautifully. It has been kept on davits under cover, with a snap cover over the seating area. Everything works and its great fun to use. Seats 4 comfortably, but a bench seat can go in the back for more seating. The seats fold down for napping purposes and it has a bimi top for some shade. Just renewed the registration, but need to sell boat and trailer together. Check it out and make an offer!

This is a vintage 1976 boat, much like the ones used in Live and Let Die; the James Bond movie. The previous owner even named it "007". He used it to pull grandkids and family on skis on beautiful Grand Lake. The paint and clear finish is faded but it is sea-worthy. It will need a freshen up before going to the water or you may want it for a restoration project, It will increase in value as the years go by and will always possess the iconic look of 70's sport boat design. Yamaha 200 outboard/Glastron - $2750

I bought this boat to use the motor for a project, but the project is no longer happening. The boat is rotten (transom and floor both junk) but the motor is in very good shape and runs great. It's a 1987 Yamaha 200 2.6L V6 2 stroke. The motor was sold new on this boat and I have the original paperwork for it. Hour meter shows 450. Take the whole boat and do what you'd like with it or take the motor and controls only. Whatever you'd like. No trades, cash only. Thanks.

$200 price drop …

1981 Glastron GX-150 - $2000

Our family of 5 has outgrown "Speedy" and I need the space, so we are reluctantly selling the first boat my kids ever knew. It has been stored indoors for all of its winters and has not been used for the past 2 years. It has an 1982 Evinrude 90 on it with power trim, new spark plugs in it, gear lube in lower unit was changed today, and a new propeller. The trailer is a 1982 Shoreland'r that has a tilt feature and the tires only have about 50 miles on them.
This 80's classic is mostly original with the following exceptions. The front navigation light was replaced with and identical LED version, the center hull storage door has been replaced with composite decking and a hydrofoil tail has been added to the motor so the boat planes out faster. It's ready for a summer of fun and creating memories with your family! Low ball offers will be ignored, don't bother. I'm NOT interested in any trades.
