Title: Deadliest Catch "Time Bandit" show boat.
Post by: V153 on July 02, 2010, 06:22:00 PM
The Offshore GP is in town this weekend, as usual. But what's not usual is by some stroke of luck my shop has some work displayed?!

Check out the Time Bandit show boat. Beth did the purple & white interior.

She's up there schmoozing as we speak. Pics to follow.

Finally got some pics. This is the boat the Time Bandit crew rode in during the parade. My shop did the cushions. Not too shabby I s'pose.

You shoulda seen that thing a few weeks ago Gregg. Beat up, busted up, interior shot, exterior shot. Was a hideous yellow with yellow interior. Made ya wanna hurl.

Mike is truly a master glassman/bodyman and painter as well. This was such a rush job for the parade the paint/gel may still've been wet ...

I gotta boast a lil for Beth too. She's far more talented than I when it comes to replicating/recovering sculpted multi panel cushions. (Me I just sling canvas around ...)  I'm extremely happy to have her working at the shop.

Just don't look too close at the rear bench though. They jammed it in there all cockeyed and the stripes don't line up quite right.

Doug ..
A friend of mine ( guy that did Dave's boat ) doses  interiorers (spelling ?) so over the years I've picked up a thing or two on how hard it is  !
Getting every thing to line up/ hoping wood, hinges, foam is in good shape ... etc, etc, etc ...

People think you throw a cover over seat and it's good ...

Beautiful Doug! Anyone that thinks you just throw stuff on there and its good is nuts. It takes real talent, for sure and it usually costs ya too.

Problem these days in these dark economic times is everybody's broke. Y'know times are tough when a guy on Boca Grande with a half million dollar motor yacht behind his mansion tries to jew ya down for a hatch cover ...

Thanks for the compliments fellas. You wouldn't believe how mind boggling upholstery can be. 'Specially multi panel, multi color stuff. Ya gotta think backwards cuz ya sew everything 'inside out'? Sheesh! Sometimes my brain hurts ...  Heh heh heh.

Take care.
