Title: Dad, Ride My Bike
Post by: David CVX-16 on October 10, 2010, 07:36:55 PM
My son Paul bought a used minibike and invited me to ride it. I declined. I thought of Doug Campbell's experience on the go kart. The bike is about 18" high and 30" long. Cute as a bugs ear, loud exhaust, about 25 MPH, but more for a risktaker than for me.

Good call David, I've seen those things and it made me hurt just to watch somebody ELSE ride it!

Thanks for the memories David. Y'know my hip is still not right. Knees too ...

Dunno bout those 'micro' bikes. I had 4 wheels under & still almost managed to kill myself ...

Worst part bout that episode I was in the home stretch gettin the V153 put back together.

My advice to those considering riding in/on such a contraption is that they reconsider. DON'T DO IT!!! Heh heh heh

Even if you're young you'll pay the price later. Trust me.

Hey my Timex took a licking & kept on ticking. Wish I could say the same. That go-kart wreck really, really hurt. Still does.

Don't be tempted y'all! But if you insist at least be sure to wear a 'hemlet' & some padding ...

WAY too small! Could it hurt to make it at least "mini bike" size? I dont get it. Makes my back hurt just looking at it.
Doug
Road rash is some of the worst pain. Heard it had to do with it being a scrape as opposed to a cut and it exposes all kinds of nerve and stuff. No good!
Then the scabs crack like crispy bacon. No good!

Gregg, now you have me curious. Your photos appear to be of the same bike, only newer and with more fairing. What is your source?

Got it on a trade for a computer ...
Rebuilt it and sold it on CL.
Must have been 3 or 4 years ago.

Thanks Gregg for the information. They also would be a source for parts. What did you do to bring it back and did you drive it? I know you drove pocket rockets. Interesting to read that the engines are 5 HP and reach 10,000 RPM. My sons engine sounds like a model airplane engine.

Dave
That would be 5 China HP ...
More like 2 to 2.5 HP in real life.
Never rode it  .. I'm to fat to fit on it ... LOL
