Not boat related but I will be running a few demolition derbies the next couple of weekends.
I hope to finish off my Astro this Saturday at the Washington County fair.

Then Next Friday the 1985 Escort will put up a good fight at Dakota County Fair

And finally next Saturday the 1995 Voyager will do some smashing at the Dakota County Fair.

If you can make it I would appreciate the support and hope to give you a great show!

why the donut tires on the rear?
-
With FWD the back tires are just along for the ride. Struts bend then the wheel rubs on the strut and it's difficult to move as you are then dragging the wheel. Also, when getting a flat, the spares handle flats better than a regular tire/wheel. And the fact that they are smaller all around give the fenders more room to crunch in around the tire without rubbing on it. Only disadvantage is that it drops the back of the car down a couple inches.

We'll be there, any way I can get my little guy into the pits to look around the cars?
-
You going to the Washington County Fair? This will be my first time running at that one. I know at Dakota County no one under 16 can get into the pits until after the derby. I guess just ask the gate keeper if you can get back there.
I'll even let him get his picture taken sitting in the Van!
Glad you can make it!

I will be at the wash fair as well Planned on watching the demo as well.

How did you do? Did the maniquin head survive?
-
Well, I already ran the van twice so I didn't expect too much. An axle shaft snapped which left me stuck in the mud. Time to get ready to run the "fresh" cars next weekend.
Here is a video from last night in my car.

I got whiplash just watchin' the video ... LOL

I missed the first 1/2 of your race....long beer line. By the time I got there you were already done.
I even wore my Lucky Glastron Shirt (it won me an award at the Iowa meet this year)

Yep, the minivan's were up first. I am running a fresh car tomorrow night and a fresh van this Saturday in Dakota County (Farmington). Should be a better race.

I'm getting ideas for my 95 Villager now. It needs exhaust, shocks and struts. I was just going to try and sell it, but that looks like much more fun! It can stay in the driveway til next year, lol.

Wish I would have know about this sooner. Dang! I love demo derbys.

There's something kinda creepy about that head.
