I don't need no stinking badges. Sorry, couldn't resist. :D
I took a break from sanding the top in preperation for paint. I felt like cleaning up and painting my badges instead. I'm not happy with the lettering but they turned out ok. I bought the machined aluminum bow badge from a GCOA member quite awhile ago. It polished up pretty good.

Lookin good Tim! Like the hidden bow tank fill, it turned out well!

Ya that's purty slick.

The bow medallion as a filler neck lid is really cool! Makinwaves, do you mind elaborating on how you did that...maybe post a few "close up " pics!

We took a 28 gallon tank and cut it in half to make it a 14 gallon tank. When deciding where to put the fill neck I thought about the filler we made for my buggy. I recessed a pop-up fill cap in the hood of that. With the bow badge in the middle of the boat I thought I could do something similar. Since we were already welding aluminum I found an aluminum fill neck and cap at www.tanksinc.com (http://www.tanksinc.com) and welded it where it would be centered under the badge. I used a cabinet hinge that I modified a bit to fit better. While the cap was upside down I glassed in a piece of 2"x4" that was pocketed for the hinge. We then tack welded an aluminum spacer that had bolts through drilled and tapped holes to the machined aluminum bow badge. After much alignment it worked out perfect. I just need to find a rubber gasket to seal it up a little better. I'll post more pics later. Grandson just showed up.

What a great idea Tim! Could you possible post a picture of the medallion lid open and showing that hinge arrangement?
