Title: Thank You & Volunteers Needed!
Post by: dorelse on August 21, 2017, 02:08:56 PM
If I can brag about all of us for a minute, we, all of us at CGOA-MN, put on an awesome event this year.  You guys welcomed new attendees with open arms and all contributed to the great family feeling that makes our club special.  Whether it was with a handshake, passing a tasty beverage down the line, providing a tow, loaning out bumpers to a dude who forgot his, then stole them...(me) or just escorting a new member up & down the river.  You guys were awesome!

Thank you all very much!

One of my personal goals when I stepped into an administrator role was to shore up our technology, secure it, and help lead the club to its 10th Anniversary Meet.  To be sure, there have been many of you that helped get us there.  Several key members willing to donate time, equipment, food, can coozies, banners and money to help keep the club (and members boats) running are what sets us apart from many other groups.  That was proven out by our record attendance of 64 (and counting) boats this year.  Thank you, stand up and take a bow...you all deserve it.

With that said, I'll be stepping aside as one of the meet planners as well as reducing my administrator role in the forums.  I've enjoyed helping out and its been a great escape from my day job, but its time to 'just go boating'.

I'm sure Gregg would appreciate some additional help maintaining the forum software and the club will need someone to help lead the 11th Annual Meet and beyond.  So, if you have a passion for the club, are a great communicator with the desire to help the club grow, we'd love to hear from you!

Thanks so much everyone, and congratulations again on an awesome event.  It was truly one to remember!

Seriously. Thank you Doran! You've done an awesome job and you definitely deserve the well needed "just go boating". Thank you for everything you have done. Who knows what would of happened to us over the last few years without you.

I'll help where I can but don't think I can handle an admin position as this point either. Twins are still a little bit of a time-suck right now!

Thanks Jason...and yes, with 2 little ones, they're going to keep you guys busy.

Thank you Doran for all that you've done for our club over the years and the countless hours you've done behind the scenes that most aren't even aware of.  Now get busy and get a 4.3 mounted in your boat!

Thank you Big D you did an amazing job for the club.

Now go boating but do not go to far.

Thanks again Jeff

Thanks Doran!

Want to personally thank you.  Any volunteer work comes with blood, sweat and even a few tears.  Your hospitality was what got me to the first meet I attended and the reason I will come back.

All the best and next year I should have an extra 21P prop if you want to test.  Thanks Bob

Shoot, I meant to ask you...how'd the boat do with the 21P on it?  (And Thanks!)

Yes...
Super big thanks to Doran for heading this up, and keeping the technology part running smoothly.

One of the things that I think is going to be important is driving traffic & folks from the FB group(s) to our forums for membership.  The FB Groups are an excellent way to connect with other owners, but its terrible at knowledge transfer and retaining projects, discussions and other conversations like the meet photos, etc.  They quickly become a mess.

So...we really have to look at them as an extension and another place to connect with other boaters.  We could start our own Group Page on FB, but that again is yet another place that dilutes the community.

We have some good friends & members that run the 2 main sites, so the thought was to just continue partnering with them.  I mean, they did all attend this year's meet.

We had at least 10 boats that attended because of the FB groups, so it is truly a way to promote & grow the club.

I would be willing to help out with planning the meet for next year. I am at TI all the time anyway. Not sure what help I would be in regards to the admin stuff on the site. I can get around a computer but do not know all the ins and outs of the admin, maintaince, and additional stuff for the tech side of things.

One of the challenges I think has been that I'm stuck in IA for now.

I'm perfectly happy to continue the back end tech support side stuff.  I have to retain the 'Administrator' role in the forum software in order to do that...I just won't handle the front line user stuff.  Gregg & Jason probably have that covered.
