I have a 88 CVX23 I currently use and picked up a parts boat and trailer, it is a 1978 CV23Ht. At the time of purchase I did not realize how few there were. The hardtop was pitched years ago, but the rest of the boat remains very complete but in poor condition. I hate to start pulling parts off something this rare. So I am thinking of putting the boat up for sale. I live in the Kansas City area, Maybe just need some advice. I have pictures on my phone I will move to the computer so I can share them here.
Thanks,
Brad

Welcome to the forum Brad !
Is that the one on Facebook with the hardtop windshield ?
-
No but I wish, the previous owner said it was part of the hardtop and was tossed. The side brackets still remain.

Pictures of one on Facebook.
Without top and wind shield, not sure what it would be worth ?
One showed up at one of our meets, can't find pictures of it now ... anyone have them ?

I'm keeping an eye 1/2 open for a cv23 or cvx23. Does your parts boat run? I/O, or jet? Did these ever come with outboard power? At the moment, I'm probably not in the market, unless the price were really right. Just learning about these boats.

I've seen a 23 with the cuddy cut open to make an open bow, but cannot seem to remember seeing one that someone converted to OB. Don't see any reason why it couldn't be done, probably look pretty neat with a set of twins on the back.

Welcome to the forum G-Force !
We have a lot of CV23's in our group, seem to be a favorite with members ...
I/O's or Jets, never seen an outboard 23.
Don't forget the CV23 with the hot tub in the bow Mike ...
Shawn has a total rebuild thread here ...

If you want a CV-23 OB, search for K&K Ghost, its a CV-23 molded to an outboard model:

Thanks for welcoming me Hyperacme, and and thanks dorelse for the tip on K&K Ghost boats!
I guess I need to turn on e-mail notifications I didn't realize until today that my post had responses!
One of these days I'll post on the new member intro section with pics of my boats, and a bit about my boating journey.

The boat currently has the 898 out drive. According to the previous owner the old engine was not winterized, so he found a four bolt main and had it rebuilt. At that time a new exhaust manifold was installed. It was ran for a while then winterized this time and parked again for several years. Once again locked up, but might be able to be saved. The out drive spins freely. His ownership was 17 years. I will probably put it out there for sale for $900 for it and the trailer and see what happens.

That's tempting. Any soft spots on the floor? I wonder if the restoration on this boat would need to be as extensive as fireman24mn's. http://forum.cgoamn.com/index.php?topic=3740.0 (http://forum.cgoamn.com/index.php?topic=3740.0)
I've done some boat tinkering, and I've built a house, but I hire a mechanic at $50 / hour for stuff I don't have the knowledge or tools for.
-
Yes, the floor is soft, but I have not opened it up. I do remodeling and have another cvx 23 I am looking forward to replacing the floor and transom. The way I look at it is its only woodwork and I am pretty good at that.

I'm interested in the plastic pieces on the shifter. The backside of the handle and the Merc logo
