Lake tested my new motor today. One small water leak was my only problem. 78 psi cold -60 psi hot oil pressure .
Broke in cam for about 30 mins. then ran it some between 35 -40 mph. Installed higher oil pump spring that came with the new Melling oil pump. The machine shop put a solid plug back in place of the factory one that has a oil hole for dist. gear, glad I checked its hard to see. Not as fancy as others here like Gils work.

Got rid of the water pump system so that will never happen again.

Gotta love the Olds design with the plugs. Looks good, glad to hear your initial testing went well. Sounds like your ready for summer fun.

Lookin good Glen.
Ignore Gil, he's a lil OCD ...

Looks good Glenn ! The "C" heads are good breathers , i thought you had aluminum heads ? Where did you ever find a marine fuel pump , i had to ditch the one on mine for a electric one . Gil

Guess I am old school staying with the cast heads. Cost 600 dollars for head work .Last time they didn't put in the harden
valve seats and some were bad , had them all replaced and a few valves . The fuel pump is just to fool the inspection people if they ever check.
I got the wrong pump so I just silver brazed the port and capped it off and hooked up the line to it. Never been able to find the correct pump ,no longer made for the 455. Don't think with the factory intake and exhaust alum. heads will do much for me .
I know someone that ran them on their boat with no speed improvement.

OK ...
We know you can take and post pictures now ...

One of my favs too. On my wish list. First model to have recessed cleats, or more correctly, cleat recesses. I believe.
That and the 'scrolling' on the transom is purty cool ...

Beautiful CV Glen !
Love that color ...

Very nice!

Thanks for the nice comments!
One thing I learned was not to trust the machine shop cleaning .I know you need to clean the block well when you get it back, had a lot of
trash behind the oil galley plugs when I removed them.
