...There are lots of water patrol officers in that area ensuring all of our safety...

Every jurisdiction looks for different things.  I can give pointers and advice regarding the boating laws and what the patrols will look for.  With as many boats as we stop in WashCo (not all first-timers), a refresher on safety should always be welcome.

We all want to be safe and have an enjoyable weekend without incident.

Alan,
We (as a club) would LOVe to have a guide to safer boating!  I know that Jim and the Power Squadron have things too, but safety is always a priority!  Feel free to write something up if you can, and I can post it on the website!

So, there has been a lot of questions as to what each person should bring...  What I would like to suggest is simply that everyone bring what they enjoy eating, and then bring a little extra to share with others.

This year, I would like to try to save some expenses by doing a more Pot Luck style event.  I will be providing the Fried Chicken and Fried Potatos for Saturday night, but I would like the rest of the meals to be a bring and share type of thing...  I would suggest that everyone bring a variety of things that others might like.  The things that we want to avoid too much of are the things like potato chips, snack foods, etc.  I'm not suggesting not to bring these things, simply that these are food items that everyone tends to bring a lot of.  We should try to bring things like fruit, pasta salad, sandwich fixins, etc.  Try to consider things that will hold well in a cooler for a few days.  The main meals that will be Friday Evening, Saturday morning, Saturday night, and Sunday morning.  The campground will bring donuts for us on Sunday.

Here is a list of some of the things that we could use... Please reply if you have these things

1) Large coffee brewing equipment. (100 cup brewer and coffee supplies)
2) Screened in tents (we have two awnings from the campground that are avaialble but could use more).
3) Weather Channel Radio
4) Firewood
5) Extension Cords
6) Tarps for weather protection
7) DVD Projector and large screen (I think that Doran might have the projector)
8. Outdoor Chairs
9) Extra Life Jackets, Dock Line, Gear Oil, 2 Cycle Oil, motor oil, etc.
10) Tool Kits, Jumper Cables, Tow ropes, Jumper Start Pack, Spot lights, etc.
11) Lanterns, flashlights
12) lawn games
13) Turkey Fryer and Propane tanks
14) Tiki Torches
15) Video Cameras (Vance is going to be doing some video editing for us again this year)

What else do we need?  If you can think of something, please make the suggestion.  If you have some of these things, please post that you have it covered!

Thanks!

Though I can't carry much on the airlines (they'd frown on Tiki torches and propane tanks I think!) I will be bringing my video camera and plan to take lots of footage.  I'll try to see where the need is once there and make a run to the store for something to share with the group.  Wish I could bring/keep fresh some great authentic Texas mainstays... like brisket, or breakfast taco's and salsa, and some Shiner beer!   Maybe next year if I drive up.

me and the Fox is thinking about bringing a few water mellon to share ?  We plan on being at the campground Thursday afternoon / evening.

Brian,  Id like to commend you, and the others, for hosting such a Great event, the efforts you extend to make this thing a success, and pleasent, for all of us is just Great.  I have hosted 9 such events here in Okc, not as big as you have going on, but I know a little about what is going on in your head, the anxioty, stress, expense, sleeplessness, and all that, but then one morning ... POW  !  there it is, a total success, and it was all worth it.

I got to tell ya, it's Great to be a participate rather than a host ... Thanks Again

Thanks Red!  I truely enjoy planning this event!  My favorite part is providing a place and a purpose for people to come together.  I will admit that seeing the smiles on their faces is an added bonus.

As far as the watermellon...  GREAT!  Bring them on!

Doran
last year I brought my coleman camp stove and only used it friday night to make some hot dogs quick before we went out for a sunset cruise. I plan on bringing that again.

Brian I have a screen house I'll bring. Ive only set it up once before so not an expert at that and hope parts didnt get lost. Just need help with set up.
I'll bring my small camp picnic table again too and I could bring extention cords but it sounds like we'll have enough.
I have about 3 extra life jackets
first aid kit.
tools
Jumper cables
If we dont get a big coffee pot, we'll need a bunch of small ones. I have an extra.
Put me down for a few Outlet stips too

In regards to coffee...  I have a local coffee company that is going to sponsor us for the coffee service.  We are actually going to have a coffee machine that can brew on site. It's going to be great, and FREE!

Thats what I'm talking about ... can they bring it to the Tent ? ... I told ya, it's more fun to be a Participate .. a participate can ask for Anything.   Just kidding of course,  but the Fox does like her coffee in the morning, I got an extention cord for her coffee pot,  if I remember to pack it. I'm gonna start loading the truck Monday

I gotta tell ya ... we been in the "old boat" business for a Long time  "litterally"  we have been to a lot of meets, and the Fox has attended several here in okc, Iowa, and Texas, but I have Never seen the Fox so excited about going to a meet as she is for this one ... she just turned 62 on the 9th,, retiring from one of her jobs, and I think she feels like this trip is a retirement celebration for her, and I like the idea of her being so excited ... especially since it involves taking our Boat ...  LOL ... lovin it.
