I don't know the redline, but I'm guessing I was too high. I doubt 6k is ok for it. I think its prop'd a little low.
Prop is a SS Raker 14 1/2 X 20.
The debate is still on at my house on which one to keep...Bluebell or Goldie.
A 14.5x22 would (in theory) drop you by 400 rpm so you would be at 5600. That would be perfect for that motor at WOT. On the other hand, a steeper prop will have less bite and hole shot. Most of the people that I know tend to run the prop that get's them into the proper band at WOT. I bet you could get another 3-4 mph out of her too!
You can't be serious about which boat to keep, are you??? In my mind, it's not even a question.
I'll probably catch heck for this...but...I'm a big fan of Piranha composite props, you can send the blades in over and over again until you get just the right set. I've run them on my last 3 boats and they were great.
I am serious about which boat to keep...CVZ-19 is by no means perfect, CVZ-18 has new stringers, new floor, new transom, new motor and gives me the freedom to 'make it my own' without damaging an original that's too nice to touch...
I have a love hate relationship with both engine types ( I/O's & Outboards), but the CVZ-18 gives my wife the sundeck she wants and keeps me in the classic glastron family.
So yeah, I do have a decision to make...lot's of 'New' when talking about the CVZ-18...ya know?
Anyway, its a great decision to have to make!
