So I hit the road Saturday morning at 4:40 AM. and made 3 stops on the way to Kansas City, was 15 miles north of KC when I stopped for the first fuel stop. Back on the road for 20 more miles, found the owners house with out a problem and then there it was in the drive way. I was a little dissapointed that it had been repainted but that quickly wore off as I was looking at the big picture of the future for the 19. The boat has been repainted flat green the transom is shot I mean worthless and Im glad I brought my transom saver to install for the way home cause I don't think the motor would have made the trip still attached to the boat. The body and hull is in great shape for the restore and after more looking it over some of the white gel has peeled and under it there is some green metal flake so that makes it a 1972. Aftre looking over the boat I sarted on the trailer, I bought just tires with no rims and changed them, Installed a new trailer light kit and replaced the trailer bearings and seals and packed them all up with new grease so now the trailer is road worthy. Hooked the truck up and plugged in the lights and no running lights and I just installed the new light kit so I started with the truck end of it first and lord and behold the they were not working on the truck. I didn't want to mess with the truck so I decided to start heading home and go as far as I could befor it got dark and then find a rest stop untill morning. Doran wanted me to stop by and officaly meet and see the new/old boat In Des moine Iowa so I we met just off of 35 and I followed to his home. Doran checked out the 19 and then he showed me the 2 cvz's of his, the blue cvz was awsome to see. It was in really nice shape and the blue metal flake looks killer! I would like to thank Doran and his family for putting me up for the night, it was a little safer than sleeping in some parkig lot, Once again thank you! 8:30 this morning I was back on the road after a well rested night and ready for another 4 hours on the road with about an hour of it being road construction not just all at one time. Made it home by 12:53 AM. Had not one problem on the way home with the truck or trailer, the trailer actually trailed really nice. Whoohoo! All in all the trip went really good with only one minor problem (the running lights on the trailer) and with no speeding tickets! Now I have a project for the winter!
