Seriously? Fatal? Is that the skipper? Who took the pics? Drowned? Anyone else on board?

Guess he thought a PFD wasn't needed.

Looking at the pictures it looks like the mid hight fall onto the side of the boat broke his neck.  Water did him in after that.

Actually he didn't drown but when he faceplanted on the gunnal he broke two vertebrae in his neck. Never regained consciousness. Showed no brain activity and his family subsequently had him removed from life support. Tragic.

He came into the inlet over a big roller too fast & at a crappy angle. Stuffed the bow and rolled the boat almost 90 deg. When that big beast 'snap rolled' and righted itself he was ejected from the bridge. Had he missed the gunnal on the way down there's a good chance he would have survived with little more than a bruised ego.

This was a seasoned captain who had piloted that particular vessel for over 10 yrs. I suspect he might have been showing off for the photographer and/or his charter? Sad story regardless. RIP Cap'n.

Ironicly the mate was able to regain control and get her through the inlet safely. Heck of a way to get promoted ...

Nasty! Very tragic. An experienced skipper no less.
I find this quite disturbing...to see the guys last minutes.  :(
