Ok Guy's ...
« on: December 12, 2010, 08:13:17 PM »
I need a motor cover like the Intimidator - CV - CVX V-8 style
I'm making a "slight" modification to my Scimitar, thinking about putting one of those on it

Hmm... Slight modification? If it's a modification that needs more under hood clearance, sounds like tunnel ram... Blower...???

Maybe just a different look for the engine cover? Now I'm curious!!!

Anyway, hopefully someone can hook you up with an engine cover, I know some of them look alot like an L-88 chevy scoop that would be available in a fiberglass aftermarket piece by itself without a hood.

I'm sure we'll all be waiting to hear what the "slight" modification will be...

well ... I sold the motor out of my boat, gonna build me a new one, I ordered the Scat 383 stroker kit yesterday, and bought a really Kool looking EFI set-up .. I don't know what it's called for sure, but it's a Lot taller than the carb and intake, it kinda looks like the Mercruiser 525 set-up, but it's for a small block.  I'll try to get pictures of it tomorrow.  It is a multiport fuel injection system on a high rise, it's Mercruiser stuff for a 430hp small block, never been installed and it's all plug-in stuff, computer, ignition system, fuel pump, barametric pressure, knock .. all the sensors, a wiring harness that looks like I better get someone else to hook it up when I get it installed.
Kinda looks like this

383 stroker... good plan! that's what is going in my Scimitar as well (eventually) but mine will probably just be a boring old carb motor.  ;)

gonna go with the vortec heads on this one as well?

I don't suppose the old powerplant is going in a certain boat to make it a little more "intimidating"...?

Very cool! 8) Hood off a CVX18 like mine would work good and look decent. Could be tough to find one though unless your ready to buy a parts boat.

Red you couldn't keep it quiet long...longer than expected. I told Debra the other night when you called me you were as giddy as a kid in a candy store. Say when, I'll bring my wrenches.

There's a CV-17 cover just listed on ebay, maybe it'll work for ya?

Looks a lot like a CVX/CVZ-18  engine cover to me. Did they even make a CV17? ???

Hey Fever .. yes, the CVX 18 will work probably,  I got a bid in on the one on Ebay, thanks Rich, but the 1976 CV-16 cover is just a bit taller in the back, would work better, but thats the plan, motor cover with padded side cusions, maybe seperated, not sure.

I been doing some shopping.    :)
I went down to the machine shop and took a few pic's of the EFI stuff, it's about 12 or 13 years old stuff, never been on the water though, the motor the stuff was on, some of it, was run on a dyno at the Mercruiser plant in Stillwater Ok. as a demo, running on compressed natural gas, but the idea was abandoned because the CNG did not get approved for marine use. The motor went into a pick-up, and the EFI stuff has been stored in a box ever since, the fellow I got this stuff from was the brain child of the experiment, and he is going to hook it all up for me when I get the motor built, and all the stuff bolted on.

Wow that's some really nice stuff Red. The 5.7 EFI in my '97 SeaRay is throttle body. Not sure when they went to multi port, maybe the same time they started using Vortec motors. I'd love to go EFi when I stick a new motor in my boat but probably won't happen. Not sure it would fit anyways.
