Starter Rebuild
« on: December 30, 2010, 10:09:17 PM »
Welp I got my starter back today. Ain't tried it yet but it sho nuff looks purty. The pictures do not do it justice. Looks like brand new! $65 bucks!? WooHoo!!! (Hope it freakin' works ...)

But seriously my business neighbor Doug & the boys @ Southern Automotive Specialties have their act together. They can rebuild just about any starter/generator/alternator from any type vehicle. 'Specially antique & obsolete stuff. Very good at what they do.

Beautiful thing. Too nice to put back under a shroud. Maybe you should use it in your house as a decoration?

I've got some clear Lexan & I'm considering installing a window in the motor cover so's folks can watch the starter in action ...

Stuck it back on the motor a couple hrs ago & it seems to work just fine. Felt a lil guilty about 'soiling' it by having it come into contact with my less than pristine flywheel. But I'll get over it ...

Yah Doug, the new craze is to have transparent covers so you can see the mechanical workings. They do it with watches, see through hood on cars (0ZR 1 Vette and Mustang cars), bionic people, why not outboard motors and Glastron hulls?

bionic people
I beg to differ Dave. One could not see through Col. Steve Austin. Nor the bionic woman ...
