Terry - Obviously it depends on the trailer and the height of your garage door, but these boats don't sit that high. I'm just shy of 6'6" and I'm taller (barely) then my CV23 when standing up. Also, I know you were looking for a 23 with the forward smoked glass (which is what I really wanted), and I believe they are even shorter in overall height. Here is shot that might help ya judge for yourself:

Are you about to pull the trigger on a specific boat?? I highly recommend you do... ;D.

I believe Most garage doors are 7 ft high opening, but the door rarely goes up past about 6'8" unless you "tweak" the up stop adjustment on the opener.

-------it got a 428cj with 460 heads..........

Thats a bunch of heuy!

Maybe 429cj heads on a 460.

A 428 is  a completely different block and engine. A 428 is part of the Ford FE engine family and actually the intake manifold makes up part of the head. A 429-460 is more a standard head design.

Based on what Jason just pointed out that would be a red flag for me. I also wouldn't drive down there w/o good pictures. Of course I'm a little cynical right now of people selling stuff on Craigslist. CV23's are one of the more popular Carlsons so I would venture that a few nice ones will pop up this spring. But nothing is certain w/these old boats. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Agreed - that sounded weird to me too. I find it strange that they told you it has a 428 but just list the motor as a 460 in their ads??

That boat looks like it could be nice - gotta love the color combo - but without seeing quality pics or seeing it in person you can never really tell. Too bad it's in MO and not closer!

I think the length would be the first thing to look at if you're looking to park it in a typical garage. If the boat is 23' and the jet drive is probably about 30" (add 6" from the wall) and the tongue is probably at least 3 to 4 feet from the tip of the boat, so you're looking at 30 -31 feet of depth for the garage to give you a little clearance. Most garages are about 24' deep. Now, if you've got a workshop, disregard the above thinking.

A friends boat is about 4 inches too tall to fit in his door with the trailer level. He drops the tongue all the way down and it rolls right in. Just remember to crank it down before hauling it out.
