Another good day in Louisiana
« on: January 29, 2011, 05:11:13 PM »
Just couldn't pass up the 72 degree weather today. My local river is getting harder and harder to launch close to the house though as the river level is low. One launch, though not steep, wouldn't even get the boards wet because the level is about 3 feet low.  Had to drive a bit farther to another launch that is perfect. It has a double angle on it. You back down and when the trailer wheels get to a line, the launch angles down more. You don't put your back tires past the yellow line. Boat floats of in a snap.

I have a couple of videos attached of a drive by and leaving the dock.  I'm going to get the compression tested on the 88 SPL and put it up for sale. Just doesn't have what I want for this boat. I'll work on the original 115 and do a repaint to get it ready for spring. I did find a few mid 80's 140 Johnson and Evinrudes within an hour or two of my house. A couple of early to mid 90's 120's and 130's, also.

45 mph is pretty respectable for an 88 SPL. That's about what I would expect from it. While working at the boat shop we had a Boston Whaler (17?) center console with a 2003 Johnson 90 and I got 45 mph out of it, with aluminum prop.
