Boat names
« on: August 06, 2011, 09:58:05 PM »
I was just wondering what some good boat names are you've seen. When I bought my boat it came with the name, so I decided I'd leave it until I could come up with something great. But here are some boat names we've had in the family:

Wake Me Up - (my current boats name)
Croix Me a River - (parent's bluewater's name, now their little boston whaler's name)
It's a Boat time - (Retired name)

I love how creative some boat names can get, I'll grab pictures of boats next time I hit the river to get some more names, but thought it might be kinda fun to see some of the names.

Mine isn't vary creative "LowRider" but I just want something that kinda fit the boat. I always got comments on how low it sits to the water. So... I came up with a design, had my buddy airbrush it on.

Mine's the "Job Site".

Just last week I was at the lake and received a call from someone about business, I replied "Sorry, I can't get to you today, I'm on the "Job Site" a few miles east of Norman and won't get back until this evening".

Perfect name for a homebuilder's boat.

when I put the name on the Scimitar, I was sure to look at the name everytime I went to the lake with George (okhmbldr) cause he had threatened to take the "G" off when I wasn't lookin.

Don't forget to perform the Boat Renaming Ceremony or bad things can happen:

Oh thanks for the tip! I didn't know! If I can remember the name, again I'll rename her. Otherwise, the current name is not too bad of a name.

okay, while we're on the subject... and I have no intentions of offending anyone... it came to me at work, doing my usual thing, and off in la-la land... the CSS-19 is basically all white, minus the bow stripe and some accents, and I'm building this motor to really run, so... and I'm pretty set on this, because I think people really need to have a sense of humor, and I've spoken with members of the "minority" community (guys I work with every day) to see if the joke can be taken universally, and I think that I am well within my rights to name the boat "White Power". it's funny, right? it's not a racist thing, it's a positive, humorous spin on a racial thing... right? help me out here...

Well, it wouldn't offend me. But I guess it just depends how big of a guy you are, because the one guy it does offend, you want to be bigger than him!  :D

If you have "no intention of offending anyone", find a different name. Not funny, very serious to some people.

How about "Whyte Hot" ... I originally had thought of naming my CV-27 (renaming actually) "Twinn Skrewed" .. poking fun at her miss-behaving twin engines, playing with spelling a bit as well.
.. it is what it is ... and that is how it should be!

Yeah, I was explaining to dorelse off the forum that the guys and I at work (again, all different ethniciies, and all in good fun) joke around like that all the time, and I figured since we were on the boat name subject, it was a good opportunity to bounce it off a group of people who I thought would be honest, and who are from all different walks of life and not necessarily accustomed to that kind of thing being able to be used humorously to actually make a certain group (of co workers, in this case) closer. I'm glad I brought it up, because after a few replies it was obvious that it doesn't work in the real world. Again, not at all intended to be prejudice, and I appreciate the input, sorry to have kinda overtaken the thread here with my own agenda! I have another idea, but I'm looking into spelling, I'll let you guys know then...
