No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
« on: August 22, 2011, 07:04:58 PM »
JR's BumbleBee broke down for the umpteenth time yesterday. I drew the short straw and ended up towing him home. No problems in the intracoastal. Negotiated our narrow lil channel and got him up next to the lil one holer ramp like nobodys business. Circled around and came up behind him at our lil 2 boat dock. Wind was blowin purty good so I drifted away from the dock. Was attempting to stretch & hand him a line when I leaned a lil too far and my wet hand slipped off'n the gunnal. Kerplunk! A** over tea kettle into the drink.

Luckily my valuable acoutrements were safely stowed in my gear bag. So nothing more than my ego was severely damaged. Though I did lose my favorite sunglasses, but not my hat ...

Hurt Ego?  What's that?  I just drove almost 1300 miles round trip from a "Carlson" meet in Minnesota and showed up with a Deck boat... kind of like bringing a knife to a gun fight!  hehe  I'm sure glad I didn't fall in the river after towing Jeff back to the dock on Friday!  Glad nothing was really damaged and you didn't lose your favorite hat.  Not sure if'n I would recognize you without it!

I'm glad to see that your boat is up and running.

Does falling in the river in front of the entire boat parade count?  I lost my favorite hat & my camera...and bruised my ego along with my foot!

Stone cold sober too.

Yeah but it's a freakin' bad a** deck boat Terry. Awesome that y'all made it up to Redwing. Sorry I had to bail but this time of year business is 'sporadic' at best. Well and buying the Baja didn't help the vacation fund much.

Hope the PTs goin okay and you keep feeling better. My pt yesterday consisted of bobbing around the sand bar in front of Snake Island. I'll tell ya the healing properties were awesome. My shoulder felt great! Well 'til I re-stretched everything falling off the Baja ...

Take care.

On the bright side Doran, your phone still works?  Also, not everyone in the parade saw you "jump over" the dock.  I think our whole boat missed it, including Bear, or he would have started to bark!
hehe

I can't believe no one got a video of him or at least a before and after pic.

Nope...all me.

I can't believe no one got a video of him or at least a before and after pic.

I believe there is photographic evidence...and everyone with a video camera is probably scanning their video from the parade.

My hat flew off when we hit a wave, and my head tilted back running wide open on the Silver Fox. Brian executed a 180 and Chris scooped it out of the water, I love that hat.

Terry, I'm glad you made the trip. My daughter, son-in-law, and Grandson had a ball. Thank you

We enjoyed our time at Red Wing Jerry.  I tried to make it an enjoyable? ride for your kids.  We had your family sit at the back of the boat so as to ease some of the Jolt? of those big waves.  When it comes right down to it Jerry, my boat is a "Tri-Hull" and slaps the water pretty hard sometimes when crossing a wave/wake.

Hey Doug, the pt is going good?  My range of motion is getting better, but my strength still has a long way to go.  If you were to see me try and get up from the dock after helping someone in, you would probably laugh because of how I looked trying to get back up.  Almost as bad as a fish out of water, flopping from side to side........ heck Doug, I even wore my life preserver while I was in a boat for fear of ending up in the water.  Not that I can't swim because I can, just not sure how long I would be able to swim let alone make it to the bank.  I even had a "Night Mare" about flipping my boat, and no matter how hard I tried, I just sank to the bottom of the river like I had concrete ankle bracelets on.

Yup and a fine deck boat, with a V8 and tons of room, not to mention mint condition.

I remember that jolt from Dad's old Seabreeze Sea Jeep (my youngest brother has it now in Idaho). I always preferred sitting on the rearmost seats rather than up front on the bench seat.
