Flake's on it
« on: October 13, 2011, 08:24:10 PM »
Barb came over this morning and we started cleaning the boat and masking, took for Ever it seemed, I done the shootin, she held the hose off the boat and done the clean-up,  Thanks again Barb,

the flake went on pretty smooth, just a little orange peel, if I have as good a luck tomorrow with the clear, as I had today with the flake, it won't take a lot of sanding to get-er-smooth.

I got a video --->   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iz9nAU9uKY

Wow ... looks great!  Looks like it's still hot over there too by the weather channel.  The new tops look great too.  Going to feel a bit different in there with those on I imagine.  Should make the summer/Hot boating season a lot more tolerable I bet.

Chris,  thats the thinkin, that baby is a Hot Tub in the hot sun, and Yes again, it was in the 80's today again, I waited till evening to shoot the nose section, but it still set up prety fast.
 I thought I had the color of the tops pretty close until I shot the flake on them,  I'll have to do them again to try to get a match, I had them sitting up on some foam tape so I could shoot the edges.

Excellent job, Red. That looks great and once you get your clear on then it should look as good as new.

Funny how I asked three fiberglass repair places down here if they could shoot new flake on my CVX and they all said NO. "That's done in the steps at the factory. All they could do is solid colors. I'm going to have to show this to them one day.

Gosh Red all that scraping and sanding sure paid off, that is just gorgeous. Doran, when Reds Gold gets finished he will have room in his shop for another project.

I'm confused (big surprize there) but do you spray the clear over the flake without scuff sanding it?

Regardless it looks great from here. Luv the custom t-top panels. Hey you think that thing's a 'hot tub' y'oughta go for a ride in the Baja end of August. Sheesh is it hot!

Keep up the good work!

Thats right, if ya sand it before the clear goes on you will sand some of the color off the flake, and sand through some also.
