Co-worker of mine has a 300 verado on a ranger...claims he go it up to 100?  I might have to go fishing with him this summer to verify those claims.

My neighbor is about to mount two Yamaha 300's on the back of an 23' cat hull he picked up this winter. He has the Stage 3 mod kits in both and according to the company that puts out these kits they should be putting out about 345 each. Not bad.

Down here in swamp country it's always a race for who has the fastest bass boat. Several friends have Bullets, Gamblers, Allison's, etc. A guy down the street from me has a 21' Gambler with a Merc 225 with the hi-po lower unit and a few mods and I've seen his boat out on the water many times. His GPS has recorded high 80's to low 90's. A 100 mph bass boat is not out of the question. Ex-father in law had an 18 1/2 Sprint with a 175 Yamaha and I was in it when we hit 70 gps and still had a little left in her.

I like the new look but don't you think the seats sitting on the floor would be uncomfortable, even in my CVX 16 they are raised 6" and on a base.
For 25k I would not expect to sit on the floor.

I've wondered that myself.  Hopefully we'll see one in June at the IA meet.

I've got buckets sitting on the floor of my GT 150 ... It's not as uncomfortable as I would have thought - what I did discover was just how much my knees would absorb the "wake shock" when we'd slam hard into another boats wake.  My previous Glastron had the flip up seats, so my legs were extended pretty well when behind the helm.  Sitting on the floor, your back takes most of it.  It can make for a really rough ride.

Looking carefully at the pic of the new GT, the top of the bottom seat cushion appears to be 6 to 8" up from the floor?  I think they extended the side skirt down to the floor for a cleaner look.  If that's the case, maybe it wouldn't be much different than the regular seats sitting on a short frame.  (Makes it harder for old guys like me to get up when they get that low, though!)   ;D

They don't look any lower than my CV16SS. I never thought they were uncomfortable. I like sitting lower than higher.

If you want tall seats buy a pontoon.

WOW, easy there Jason, I'm not quite ready for the rocking chair on a pontoon yet!  I merely made an observation on the seat, and made a joke (? see the smiley face ?) about the seat height.  Y'all have fun now, hear!?

I knew it was a joke..... my post was intended to be one too. Guess I was missing smily faces!!

I was just agreeing with you mark. I don't think the new GT160 seats are much lower than most of the boats we drive. It's the price we pay to drive a "cool" boat!

Com'on guys!  That boat in all black is Night Rider on the water!  All we need is to change the bow led's to Red, install Kitt, and get the Hoff & his leather jacket!  Glastron's back on the small screen!

LOL!!!

(It would require a lot of post water wiping though...)

listen for the Night Rider theme in the baseline, especially towards the end.

35 years of engine and hull improvments and...............some time back I posted a test of the 1977 CV16 with a 75 Evinrude, with two people in it reaching 41 mph....that test is in the resources section but this new one seems to perform similar......

How far we've come. But what the heck. I'd reckon the new hull is considerably heavier, and has many more 'amenities' than the old GT. So it's kinda a wash ...

Aha. I knew it! The new hull is only 640lbs heavier ...  Taking that into consideration I'd say the performance of the new boat is outstanding?

I think I saw test reports from Boating World magazine that have the new 160 doing 45mph with a 115 and 36 mph with a 75 and one person in the boat. Still pretty good numbers.......it will be interesting to see how this new GT 160 goes with a 200 on it.............

34 to 36 mph sounds more realistic to me with a 75 HP motor.
Which would put the 115 HP motor at about 45 mph.
Would take a 150 HP to get to 50 mph ...
But motor options only go to 115 HP ...

Think I'll keep my CV ... LOL

Hopefully we shouldn't have to wait too long before someone posts a video on youtube ... It'd have to be someone who could afford it. Because doing so would void both boat and motor warrantees. Technically. I guarantee it would void the boat warranty.

What's the tub rated for anyway. Gotta be more than 115?

No max HP rating on web site, but engine options go up to 115 HP.
