So here is the back story... Many of you know that some Glastron-a-holics have a tendancy to want the next best thing in terms of their boats. We've seen it time and time again as those of us that start out with the small runabout end up with the bigger, faster, cleaner, etc. boat. It happened to me 2 times. I went from my first v-173 to the CV-16SS. Of course the CV wasn't enough, so I found myself grinning from ear to ear as I pulled home my CVX-20. I used to suffer from a great deal of boat envy when I owned the previous two boats, and for the first time I was experiencing relief in the ownership of the Silver Fox. For the first time in 4 years, I felt like I truely had the boat that I wanted. I could go out with any other members of the club, and I was simply happy. So... Now that boat has gone off to greener pastures somewhere in the Dakota's.
And, as expected... the itch is back. Yes, I know I have a neat boat in the new V-195. I'm extremely glad that it has a powerplant that still rumbles like a monster, and I expect that it's going to be running around 55mph when the restoration is done. All of that is well and good, but Lisa and I had a conversation yesterday after I spent the morning glancing at Red's new Scimitar. She asked me if the ol feelings of boat envy were back, and of course, they had begun to camp out in the back of my head again. She asked me if the new V-195 is ever going to be enough to fill the need that I have for the Glastron / Carlson experience. Regretably, I believe that it will not...
So, Lisa in her wisdom and graciousness said that sometime down the road (2-4 years) we should be able to put a 2nd boat into the budget. She knows that the V-195 is going to be her preference in boating, but she recognizes that I'm going to need something that can push into the mid 60's+ in order to be happy.
Here is what I want to propose... I'm looking to start making a decision about what boat I want to seek out. I have a great deal of respect for those of you in the club that have chased a certain boat for several years until you find the right one. I would like to do the same thing. In the past, I've always thought that the CVX-18 with the 5.7L motor is the best platform to build off of, but I'm not sure...
