When I was a kid I dreamed about having Checkmates, Glastron GT's, Hydrostreams ETC. I consider myself very fortunate to have been lucky enough to have lived out a number of those dreams of the 70's hot rod boats over the years. Here is my most recent dream (winter project), someone stopped by the shop this winter and guessed it was the mythical Glastron/Molinari 2+2 (I don't think they ever went to production?????)  Truth is it is a Maltese Magnum Missile.  Keep Dreamin'

If we're going to stick with a new Glastron product, I'd go with a GS289.
For a long time I've envied the Crownline 270CR (Now the 280CR) ... My wife is wearing the down payment on her finger.
Before she and I met, I had big dreams that I could put in at Corpus Christi, TX and take myself all the way to the Florida keys.  My researched indicated that 27 mph is the most efficient cruising speed and that would make for a really, really long trip.  I was a single guy and wanted to have that freedom ... port to port, refuel, tie-off for a night or two, keep going.  Who knows, had I done it - I may have never returned from Florida ...

Those now being goals to dream about in retirement, I'd be quite happy to pull home with a brand new GT 185.

I'd really love to have a new boat like the GT 185 for "everyday" use ... and be able to spend some quality time rebuilding a GT 160, or a nice ski machine with a big new outboard.

Rich - you've got some good choices.  The Meridian stuff is beautiful.  I couldn't imagine having a bank account to support a big Azimut.  Doran and I had a conversation recently ... if you can afford the boat, a $6,000 fill-up doesn't make you blink.

I'm diggin the tow vehicle in the CV21 article. Looks like a W-30, or 442? Hurst Olds mebbe?
Good eye Doug. 69 442 or maybe a Hurst.
My 69 W30
If a guy is going to have 2 or 3. One should be pratical (like your V195) so I think a CV-16 V8 would be bad! What a ride that would be. Or an Intimidator, (like Barbs), a CVX-18 350, a CV19 or 21 or for the best of both worlds, performace and room, a CV23 but now you get into having to leave it outside of most standard garages. Its a tough one for sure. Actually might be true for anything approaching 19-21 feet.
Missing the "W30" sticker on the Starboard side.  ;D

I remember looking at black one with gold stripes once. Original checked paint. Think it was a 73 but I know the colors were limited. Maybe just black and white?

From what I understand Hurst Olds were primarily white & gold but at least a few were black. I had a '69 442 that was orange btw. But my black '72 Supreme was a much better car.

Buddy of mine had a pristine '69 W30 convertable with 27k on the clock. Think the only thing that wasn't OEM was the alternator. He was forced to sell during a nasty divorce & he's rather tight lipped about the selling price. But I believe he got well over 30 grand for it. Probly closer to 40?

Come along with me on a nite time ride in Bob's highly modified CV-21 with twin LS1 powered jets...

Honestly, I never liked the CV21 that much.. But Bob's machine is one of the coolest Glastron transformations I've ever seen! Would love to take a ride in it one day. Does anyone know how fast it is?

Therefore a CV21 should also make a good I/O.  If there were any CV 21 I/O's built, they probably would have been Glastron powered which was Volvo/Ford without trim, so that hull would also take extensive modification.

There was a CV21 stern drive made originally by Glastron. Got it on my computer somewhere (online with my iPhone at the moment). There was a red one on the CGOA for sale a few years ago.

If you ask me what my dreamboat would be... (thinking about something I can really afford and not dreaming what I'd never get)

Of course it would be a Glastron.

Just for the heck of it, a '69 CT15, or a '70 Molinari would be great.

As a family boat I love the V254 or the V210.

For now I have my dream boat, a CVC18... A nice addition would be a '68 Carlson Charger for a fast evening run.

And of course the Intimidator! Never seen such a nice rear (okay the CVX20 is slick as well, but those pipes? Just love 'em.)

Colors? Hard question, I love blue. My golden CVC looks nice too. Would love to have a purple Glastron one day though. Orange is great too. Never been a big fan of brown, red, or silver. But hey you never know...

Received a ride in Bob's cv21 at the 2011 Red Wing meet, awsome ride.

I think he is getting right around 65mph, but the acceleration is heart stopping.

Make a trip over the pond in August I am sure he will give you a ride.

I used to suffer from a great deal of boat envy when I owned the previous two boats, and for the first time I was experiencing relief in the ownership of  the Silver Fox.

I had that when I owned my CVX16 but it went away has hasn't been back since I got my CVX18. I can appreciate all these old Glastrons and Glastron-Carlsons. However, the only one I like enough to actually own is already sitting in my garage. Life is good! ;)
