Gel coat Vs Basecoat/ Clearcoat?

I am going to repaint the CVX i just picked up and was wondering about opinions or experiences that people have had.  Both have there advantages. I keep talking myself in and out of one or the other. I painted my V184 a couple years ago and the paint still is holding up and looks good. I used some single stage Urethane and some Base /clear. I will just be painting from the water line up. Looks like cost will be about the same. Gel would be a lot more work and maybe a little more cost but not much. What is thoughts, opinions, Experiences. Some have commented on the other thread but thought I would start another one for this topic.

You relayed that thought wrong ... Gel coat is a ""LOT"" more work, thats why it cost so much to get it done,  but the big deal about the gel coat, vs the clear coat is that the gel coat is a just more radiant, it's really slick too, and seems easy to keep it that way.
I got Nothing against clear coat, I had my scimitar clear coated before I took it to Muscatine, it looked good, I just didn't like the different colors in it, but if I done another clear Gel coat, with flake, I think I'd shoot it on alright, but I think I'd brush tip it immediately ?  would need some help to do that, save a BUNCH of sanding, but I don't think you could ever beat the brilliance of a good clear gel coat.
