I've been thinking about Art alot lately, wondering how he is doing since his wife passed away unexpectedly last month, and knowing Art is strugling with demintia.  I called his son John to see how Art was doing.  John had  taken Art into his home for a few weeks after Barbara passed, and now, Art is living in a senior living center and doing reasonably well, John is the manager of the facility and is with Art every day.   John said he will tell Art that we are thinking about him and he also expressed his appreciation to everyone that expressed their condolence's.

It's hard to think of loved ones and friends in the throes of dementia.  My father in law is in a Texas nursing home with very advanced Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).  My wife, Courtney, is a nursing home administrator and she has passionate knowledge of dementia.  I can ask her how best to communicate with him in ways that he'd recognize.  Do you know what type of dementia he has?  It's great that you keep in touch.
