Boat naming ceremony
« on: August 14, 2012, 03:08:04 PM »
Does anybody still have the steps to name a boat?
I want to do it Thursday night, before it ever gets in the water.

I was thinking of naming mine as well maybe we could do a group ceremony if other people were interested
I think this has become an addiction.

I did the naming ceremony for Hot Knots a few weeks ago.  Get it done before it goes in the water.  I was having bad luck with that boat until I got it done.  Such as I bought a used drive from a local boat shop, took it to the water and it lasted 5 minutes because the mechanic that installed it didn't fill it with oil and I had to be towed in by the lake police. ( He made it good but....I ended up putting the old MR drive off Burnin Daylight on it.)  My brand new bimini top the 2nd time I put it up popped one of the plastic post mounts.

I don't believe that mine has ever been named. I never seen anything on or in it that would indicate that it was. I am thinking that I should just have to do the naming ceremony. I like the 3rd one Greg posted as it names the Family that will be aboard the vessel. What do you guys think? Fri naming ceremony

I can wait till Friday. I wonder if Bloody Mary works for toasting?  I will pick up some champagne (to make Neptune happy).

Who else?

I'm told champagne is preferred but bloody mary's are entirely acceptable ...  Just don't screw up the ceremony ...

edit. All kidding aside the boat naming, denaming, renaming ceremony is taken very seriously down here. Neptune is not a King to trifle with imo.

Brian and Lisa are in too. That's 4 so far. we may need a High Priest of the depths or Davey Jones (or any one of the Monkey's) to preform the ritual.

Might as well join ... to my knowledge, Wet Raider has had no other name.  I have not performed a naming ceremony, but I have not applied a name to the hull, either.  Count me in, and I'll bring a graphic to apply after it's official.

I'm in too! I was going to do the naming ceremony at Rathbun, but then had to cancel the trip.

Was thinking, "Not Easy Being Green" as a tribute to what I think is groovy 70's avocado green on my boat, and Kermit the Frog, who is, let's face it, just awesome.

I won't have time or $$ to get a graphic, but the naming part will work.

We're in too; for the naming cerimony - I also do not think ours ever had a proper name.  Plenty of troubles though so what the heck, right?  Anyone have any ideas?  See ya Friday!

I'm intrigued! I'm hoping to pull out of Woodbury at 10am on Friday so should be there by 11 or so. Hopefully we can do the naming ceremony then!

Sigh... I guess I've been over-ruled and now we're leaving at 11.

Ah well it's only an hour later I guess.
