Does that mean you won't be bringing the GT to Red Wing?

That's great, Mark.  I saw the winning bid on eBay, too - nicely done.

Thanks guys, it's a project that will probably take me quite a while to whip it into shape.  (I'm not getting any faster, but think I still have one project left in me I think.)  The interior is pretty much trashed, somebody shot clear over the deck and it's peeling off, engine and outdrive were supposedly rebuilt recently - but who knows for sure.  I'm going to take my time and enjoy the GT150 while this one's getting the refurb. treatment.

Mark - Here's the other SSV-168 that came up for sale last year.  It was in good shape, but needed a floor.

Feel free to download the pictures so you have them!

Awesome deal!  Can you strip the clearcoat?  I read someone used Dupont Imron clear.  How is the floor?

I did a little investigating today, looks like somebody laid a new floor over the old one.  The fiberglass is lifting off the wood in spots, so I might as well plan on a full blown rebuild at this point I guess.  (If they were sorry enough to pull that trick, you know you can't count on any of the rest of it being right!)  It's a 140 Mercruiser with a pre-alpha drive, no idea what I'm dealing with there yet.  Once the weather gets nicer I can clean her out and get a better idea of what I'm dealing with.

No one was ever sorry they did the job right,  That will be a family boat you can use for years.

After long deliberation and careful consideration, I've decided this one is too far gone for me to consider a "doable" project. I'm having some issues with my back (disc degeneration between the vertebrae), and tackling another "hull-up" project just doesn't make sense.  Anyone interested in the boat, Pre-Alpha / Mercruiser 140, or any of the parts thereof, let me know and we'll talk. The trailer will be refurbished and eventually find a new home under my GT150.

If you're having back issues, that's the best decision you'll ever make.

I'm an admitted fan of the 168.

I just don't think I have another project in me!

Do you have more pictures?  And, no trailer right Mark?

I don't know guys, I'm already having second thoughts about unloading the SSV.  I may just let it sit covered in the yard for a while, think things over some more.  Sorry for all the waffling, but I think the latest diagnosis on my back has me a little bummed out.  The boat is not costing me anything, and who knows what the future will bring.  The one thing we DO know is that they don't make them like this anymore, and most of them can be saved with enough time, effort, money, and love.
