What is the thickness and width of your transom.  You can have the wrap around aluminum plate I had made for my GT.  It's just sitting in the basement.  Pay for shipping (if it will fit) and it's yours.

Never thought I see the day when Jerry said to do something "HALF AZZ" ... LOL
But understand what he's saying and why ...
Maybe put a long piece of angle iron or aluminum on the inside, lower motor mount also, to spread the load out.

Dean is one of my facebook friends, I know what he has gone through to keep the cost down. I also know if he hangs out here very long, that boat will be replaced eventually with something faster.

These can help too. Helps stop from crushing the transom with the motor bolts. Just make sure you get the correct width for you motor and slobber the bolts with 4200. I'll be adding at least one when I pull my Merc.

Ross,
I like those, too.  When I get my splash well painted, I plan on using one as well.  For now, I set a monster fender washer beneath each clamp bolt.  They help distribute that pressure across the width between the bolts, rather than focusing on two points.

A $2 piece of aluminum does the same thing.
