CVX-17 clean/renew/replace
« on: October 08, 2013, 07:10:34 PM »
Found some great used bayliner seats to replace my original seats with  :P. Just kidding. So far I have found a wiring issue that fried the original tachometer (wasn't working when I purchased), and cleaned all the wiring up with a new tach. Received my new steering wheel, and am now setting my sites on the floor to place carpet back in this beauty. Still unsure about upholstery. But any change will be like the steering wheel. It will just be renewed but original. New working tach.... Complete.

Now that you fixed the tachometer, you need a new speedometer that goes above 50 :)

Personally I think the guy's outa his mind but his money appears to be green ...

Before I fergit, it has really nice 'looking' helm chairs. God only knows what they're made of but they do look killer ...?

Not to hyjack the thread but those Farce 150's are an interesting engine, 5 cylinders in-line with 3 carburetors.

Honestly I always thought the old Chryslers were a pretty good little engine...Mercury is really the only US made outboard any more when you think about it...

Update on upholstery. I decided on black to bring out the metal flake. Here is my first project completed center console with new black vinyl from Veada INC. Quality is better than I expected. Carpet has not arrived yet. Next will be side pads, and front storage doors. Also really cool thing is Veada has the button caps to match the vinyl.

Thank you! The seats will retain there original pattern with the 3 stripes one large and two slim lines on the outside of the large one. Will be taking the seats to a professional. The seat colors will be a close match to what they are now but the slim stripes will change from brown to black. No other place in the boat is there brown, so I don't really understand why originally brown was placed there. And the side pads will be a continuation of the black from the windshield and driver console retaining there buttons.

................so I don't really understand why originally brown was placed there.

It was 1984.........I think it was a law to have at lease some brown in EVERYTHING! Kind of like teal and pink in 1992! I think the black stripes will be an improvement.

Well, brown would be in the same color family as the tan...so the accent stripes are brown vs. black.

I liked them and think it looked great with the color pallet of the OEM upholstery.

The 1984 brochure lists your CVX as "Brown MF".

I see, the brochure does list a brown M/F. But wouldn't my boat look like the Cv 16 above in the picture. I think it's actually the coral M/F.  ;D  Oh crap, that means pink is in there some place.

I think your boat is Coral (Red). The vinyl colors of the brown boat were different.

In the '84 brochure the 16 is brown, the 17 is blue, the 18 is brown, the 20 Intimidator is coral, the ski machine is brown, the sprint is blue and the 23 is plum. The upholstry has a wide Blue, brown, or red stripe pattern. Since 007s has the wide red stripe upholstry the metalflake should be coral.

In '85 they dropped down to two color patterns for the interior. Blue for the Blue hull and Red for the Black, Silver, or Red hulls. However the Intimidator was shown in Blue with the Red stripe interior.
