CVX16 inner hull photos
« on: February 27, 2015, 03:56:41 PM »
Hi guys,

Hope you're all doing well?

Coming up to spring and can't wait to get her out on the water  ;D

Does anyone have any photos of a CVX16 inner hull without the carpet? I don't seem to have the bottom rails that run along each side of the boat along the floor line (after the carpet is fitted) and I'm trying to work out how and what I need to put back in the boat and where to fix the rails?

Would really appreciate your valuable help and expertise.

 ;D Thanks Gregg,

Much appreciated, I've been out this morning and purchased some really cool reclaimed  teak, 238cm long, 23cm wide and 3.2cm thick, it's really nice stuff so want to fit it in the boat, boy is it expensive wood! Managed to get it for $30, how does that fit with what you pay over there?

Thanks Gregg,

Pretty good price then, especially for the UK, normal prices for teak here are www.robbins.co.uk

I had a look through the link you gave and there are some great pics and advise but I can't see anywhere where it shows the bottom inner side fixing points, I guess I will have to try and fix to the floor, do you know if the cvx16 is a double skin hull?

Thanks in advance  :)

WOW where did you get that from Gregg, that's exactly what I was looking for!

You star! ***********

Cheers, I have looked everywhere for that....

I guess I have to take the carpet up to find a way to fix to them as I have a flat floor that goes straight to the boat inner wall by the look of it. I will post and you can see what I mean then.

This is what I am trying to do Gregg, it's a basic edited pic but im sure you will understand..

Two picks, the black line is where I want to put the teak, then an edited pic to sort of show what I want, the bottom run should be inline with the top rail but it will be teak instead of padded..

I think the fiberglass tab's in pictures were support for the long board / rail that would have to run from front to back of interior.
Some one must have cut it out on your CVX when they replaced carpet.

Our 87 CVX16 did not have those tabs.

Mmmmmm that's interesting as mine is an 86, so maybe they made a few without?

Just a thought...

My '79 didn't either. I put 2 2x2" pieces in that area under the glass when I rebuilt mine so I could screw panels to it in the future whenever I redo my interior.

That's a great idea, I will strip out the carpet and put some rails in and cover them in fibre mat, just enough to make sure they're solid.

Many thanks all  ;D

Or make some side panels like Diamond Chad's CVX, that drop down from hulls sides.

That's another great idea Gregg, I have the diamond on the starboard side as it holds the throttle unit, maybe I can fix the runners from the rear side of the seats to the Diamond but leaving 1/4 inch under the runner to allow water drainage, what do you think Gregg?

Or you can just run carpet up the sidewalls.

On ours, the original carpet was in 4 pieces.  Left side wall, Right Sidewall, Front footwall, and floor.  Floor was the last piece that was installed, and overlapped the sidewall pieces and the footwall piece by about an inch.  Side seams are hidden by the side trim when put in place.

On the CV's , it's just a board that attaches to side of seats and the board under splash well.
It just sits on top of carpet so water can drain ...
