1958/1959 Seaflite and Seaflite Seville
« on: July 09, 2015, 08:25:25 AM »
Hello! I'm writing to reach out to experts and enthusiasts of classic Glastron boats, particularly the 1958 and 1959 Seaflite models. I'm trying to track down original advertisements and brochures and that's how I cam across the site and chapter (I'm also looking into Attwood Brass Company's Seaflite hardware line as well). Any insights on Glastron and/or Attwood would be much appreciated and if anyone has scans of advertisements they might be willing to share or a direction they can point me in that would be great!

Emily is with the Carnegie Museums and is doing research on Attwood ...
Any one know anything or some one that might ?
I can PM you her email address if you would like to talk with her.

Her email ...

I'm helping with research for an upcoming museum exhibit focused on mid-century design. In 1958 the industrial design firm Peter Muller-Munk Associates designed hardware for Attwood Brass Company's Seaflite line (as seen here: http://www.fiberglassics.com/library/Attwood). We're searching for materials to help supplement this part of the story, with an interest in Glastron's Seaflite line. While we haven't concluded what the relationship was between the two companies (it seems like the name was mostly coincidental), we're trying to find out more and hoping to track down original sources or high resolution scans of the Glastron brochures as a possible graphic feature for use in the exhibit. Boating magazines are not well preserved in libraries but forums like yours are proving to be a great resource for information. If it's not too much trouble we would greatly appreciate if you could put us in touch with members who might know more about the 58/59 Glastrons or you can send my forum post their way. I've also posted here http://www.fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums/home/main-forum/1958-seaflite-attwood-brass-and-glasstron and here .1958/1959 Seaflite and Seaflite Seville - Classic Glastron Owners Association.

Thanks!
Emily
