Glastron value - Storm Damage
« on: July 21, 2015, 10:02:08 PM »
My good friiend is in the motor sports salvage business.  This one came and he's trying to determine a value for the insurance company.  It's a V-164, maybe 1968 model.  I told him I would throw it to the Classic Glastron community to get some feedback.  I know there are a lot of variables and not much to go by, but it looks like it was a pretty clean boat.  Let me know what you think for a value.  Thanks in advance.

$5500 to $7000, replacement cost, considering insurance and overhead.  Sad to see, tornado?

Now that the value is out of the way.... what can it be bought back for? lol

OR, does your friends insurance company need this disposed of? Just so happens that if they do, I literally JUST started a boat disposal business for insurance companies ..... lol

Really?
Then you must know where to get rid of a hull? I think I'd rather do that than dump it on the property somewhere and have stuff living and growingit it.

Ross, there are transit stations where you can dispose of old boats. About $100 per ton.
Yea, what's the buy back price? Good parts boat. Hull looks like it buckled though.

Thanks for the feedback.  I believe it was straight line winds we had two Sundays ago that collasped the building.   I'm not sure if this boat will go to auction or not.  TS Salvage is the company it will most likely be with.

They pretty much all go to auction unless the customer buys them back. Although some times the Ins company says here's your money keep the car, boat, etc and do what you want with it.
I think this has become an addiction.

In nebraska I have been able to take scrap hulls to the landfill.  The damage to the hull appears extensive, but likely the drive, controls, and various other peices could be salvaged.  Buyback value is always a variable, no way for me to even guess that.  Custom vehicles that I own are insured for a stated value, which I have had to have them inspected first.  Let us know how it turns out.

The Cambridge waste transfer station is cheap. I imagine there are others that are as well, but I know that one is in particular (way cheaper than other places I've checked)
