I gladly vote for you to be the most hard core enthusiast. I  imagine going into the water with Carharts and a helmet would sink ya like a rock.  Just a bit cooler outside than I would like.

The water is cold when you first get in but its fine once you get used to it?  Really we are pretty carful and have a rescue boat ready if needed

Don, you go to extreme lengths to have the lake all to yourself. Open up the throttle - there will be no water sheriffs around. Who says you have to go to Florida to boat year round.

Do you have to dry the boats in a heated area to get the water out?

With the lake empty of boats and most wildlife, combined with the cold air and water it really is a good time to run em hard.....nobody making wakes etc. I try to make sure the exhaust gets hot enough to keep things liquid long enough to drain ;)........I am hoping for an early spring and get on the lake in March......That would make winter only two months long? Pretty good for Minnesota.

I just drove by Johanna in Arden Hills.....80% open including the ramp.....Anybody for a Saturday run? If we get enough maybe we could reserve a picnic shelter.......I think they are saying a few inches of snow as well?

It is OVER at Rice Lake near Paynesville!
Last weekend when Brandon and Amber were here the lake was 100% water.
Now, it is 100% ice, and it's 2 degrees outside with a cold moon lighting up the frozen lake.

Now that is just plain crazy, gets bad when you have to use a snow blower to clear the ramp to launch just so you can go fishing. Did you guys have any heat source along with you? Nice fish though and I bet they tasted even better than the summer ones.

Those are some impressive fish, and walleye is quite tasty.  I can honestly say I've never cleared snow to use a ramp, and more certain I never will.  Most folks here would wait for ice fishing, but it's a hit/miss round here anymore, just doesn't get cold long enough or deep enough to ice fish.
