River Otter I believe.

We had a couple show up on our small lakes last spring too.  Fun to watch, no doubt about it.  They play in the water like 10 year old kids.  They disappeared come June though, not really sure why; boat traffic maybe??  Give them some room though, they are still wild animals that have been known to be a bit territorial with swimmers in the water; nipping at people at times.  We never saw it but read reports of such.  It is amazing all the different critters we share the water with.

Our lake has a bit if interesting history...man made and private.  It was built in the 60's and quickly fell into bankruptcy...so sat unused (except by locals) for the better part of 40 years.  Its a couple hours from the house, and we've listed our lot for sale this Spring.  Hardly ever get down there so no point to hold onto it.

Nikki was over it (and I mean over it; ie. hasn't been down since) after seeing a couple of Northern Water Snakes on the beach eating frogs.  Land snakes are not good for her...but in the water...Nope, she's done.  :)

Luckily, property taxes are $6/year...when do you ever see that?  1 acre, $6.
