Looking for Fishing boat seats
« on: August 06, 2017, 01:26:55 PM »
I am building a deer blind and I am looking for a couple used fishing boat seats. I already have pedestals. If anyone has any laying around you want to get rid of let me know.

I use office chairs. They are adjustable up and down plus Good will always has them cheap so when the mice eat them you can toss them and get new ones.
I think this has become an addiction.

I am getting some land so I have to build a couple box stands as well. How are you doing yours?

I am planning on buying one of these and then building a box to put on it.  I looked into buying some telephone poles and the wood to do it and this is a lot cheaper. Plus I could move it if need be.

Where I hunt on my parents land we have a good size hill right next to a draw through the pasture and alfalfa field that the deer travel through.
We had been using a ground tent blind with great success until a winter storm destroyed it during Nebraska's late rifle season.

So now my father has acquired an old Colman pop up camper that has been roughly converted to a blind. We still need to remove the old interior fixtures so we can put some decent seats in so we have a good visual of the area. Next spring, we will be redoing the add on hard sides, installing better windows, and insulating it.

You could paint a school bus hot pink and hunt from open windows, so long as the object has been in the environment for awhile.  Grain bins and carts work nicely.   Gave up rifle hunting for pistol, then archery.  #1 adage to remember, shooters talk about how far they made the shot, hunters talk about how close they got.  I have car seats, boat seats, etc. Stop by and have a look.

Thanks Mike, when I get to Omaha next I will.

Last year I had too close of call and was planing on building a hard blind for this year. I had a buck that was probably 3 to 4 years old with a narrow 4 point rack try to join me in the tent blind after I shot him. He came so close that there was blood splatter on the tent and I could hear the hoof beats of him running very clearly. Need less to say i lost him during tracking when he crossed the road to the south of me. When I went back to the tent there were hoof marks and blood right next to the anchor line on the west side of the tent. That is less than 6ft.

Did you do your best Tommy Boy impression and say "that was................awesome!"   I've had Doe's pee on my ground blind with me in it.  Could have just stabbed em with an arrow.  Didn't have an either/Or tag that year.    Maybe consider a tree stand instead?

I probably could have stabbed him for sure. I couldn't get my gun reloaded fast enough to get another shot off to defend my self. I am going to carry my pistol with me this year. And yes I did have an either/or tag but he was the only one I saw when i sat out during November firearm season.

A tree stand would be nice, but there is a problem with that. No trees in the pasture. But, I do have a 300 to 400 yard view to the north and west and south of me. Can't shoot east too many houses with in a mile.
