BOAT BBQ?
« on: November 02, 2017, 03:26:55 PM »
So my two favourite things from the Us are definitely my pita Glastron and my Kamado Joe BBQ - I was wondering if anyone had manufactured any contraption so you could have your grill on your boat cooking while your stopped or trolling? Strange question I know but why not :-)

A BBQ is a popular addition to pontoon and larger lake boats, but I've never seen one operating in/on any smaller fiberglass boat before.   I've taken my little jug BBQ with me many times and cooked on a sandbar, but never close to the boat.   Fire next to anything with a bilge sounds kinda scary.   Now my pontoons have had mounts that hang the small propane BBQ on the rail, but those are all propane, or at least all the ones I've had or seen were.   In addition, my toons have all been OB, so no bilge area.  Houseboats I've seen with regular BBQ grills on their decks, but those craft have had kitchens to think of it, maybe they are safer?

Thought they were just gas models, but you can get them for charcoal ...

Notice that most swing over the side, usually attached to a toon side fence.  I had to look up the grill you mentioned, Kamado Joe is very similiar to a model available here called the big green egg.  Needless to say, your not likely going to find a marine mount for a 200 lb Q.
