1975 Glastron 21 foot V-8 Vagabond Camper
« on: May 27, 2018, 09:39:08 AM »
1975 Glastron 21 foot V-8 Vagabond Camper. At Wilson Lake marina, have this this boat for sale, but have no idea what to ask for it. Just taking offers. It is nearly as new. 100 percent original. Since purchase in1975, it only has 98 hours on it!!!  It was stored inside and covered. Never left in water. bottom of boat is as clean and flawless as the top side.  Barely used. All wiring, seats, galley cushions are as mint. Has the canopy top too, with one small rip. Last time in water was 2004 or 2006. The V-8 Volvo engine looks mint and clean. Winterized after last running, but have not put new transom seal in, battery, or tried to start. Marina mechanic says it should be easy tune-up to run beautifully again. He knew the elderly owners and it was a sweet smooth-running boat. They just rarely used it. If someone is restoring a boat, this is a survivor which would show beautifully unrestored as it came from factory. Includes the custom 2-axle trailer made for it. Inboard motor says it is a 280. I was going to use it as camper and guest quarters until it was ready to use on the lake. What might be a fair price for such a low, low number of hours on this boat?  Will take best offer. Lost storage to keep it inside, and now the original cover is having seams give way. Worth a trip to Kansas to have a show-stopper which will be 50 years old in 7 years and still original new. Thanks for any emails stonefarm@live.com and your thoughts, or call 620-653-2400. Roger Hubert

Thanks again Roger! The Vagabond now has a new owner :-) Will post pictures once we get her all cleaned up and on the water. Changing fluids and doing general maintenance, but should be water ready in a couple weeks :-)

Beautiful Boat.  I have wanted one for a while. If I would have had the room to store it I would have went and looked at it.

Congratulations on your purchase. And as Jason stated bring it up to Minnesota. I would really like to see it in person.

Or... maybe sometime we could meet at lovewell at the NE/KS border sometime. I have never been on that body of water yet but hear it is nice.

Thanks guys! Once she is water ready and we do some minor cosmetic repairs I can take some more pictures. We considered getting a slip for it, but since its called the Vagabond (IE wanderer) we felt it would be a disservice to leave it in one spot. We are definitely down to travel to new and far away lakes :-)

Feel free to come down to KS anytime, Wilson is by far and away the most beautiful lake in the state.

@Jason what are the details on the Red Wing meet? Perhaps we could bring our c512 and the vagabond.

It is August 16th - 19th at Treasure Island Casino and Marina at Red Wing, MN.

You can check the old event threads from last year in the Minnesota events for contact and event information. It really doesn't change from year to year.

Thanks @75starflight. About a 7 hour drive from KC, so we may be able to make a trip up there! Just getting anxious and excited to get this baby on the water for the first time in years.

I will throw Doug from Florida under the bus here, he would know likely better than most what your options for a bimini top will be.  Shoot him an IM and ask, or maybe he might notice this post?

@dszczucinski  You have a shorter trip than I do from Central City, NE. Its an 8 hour drive for us.

Bimini may not be as bad as we think. Going to patch it and use automotive professional vinyl paint to breathe some life into it.
