Few years ago I got a motor from a guy off CL.
He would buy motors with bad power heads, bring PH to Supreme for rebuild then reassemble.
He told me most of the local boat racers had him rebuild there motors.
If they have something that fits your needs … Go for it !
They also have "Test props" you can try.

If your steering cable to motor has a connector like this .. DON'T re-use it !
Get one like bottom picture..
Better yet .. Get a new NFB system and mount thru tilt tube if you have the clearance in your splash well.

I’ve got the middle transom mount version. It’s very smooth and light - almost too light. I think I’ll stick with it for now.

I discovered SearchTempest today and found several craigslist options outside MN. It was over my lunch hour so I’ll have to look through them more closely tonight. Most are complete boats but one stood out in particular. It’s a 1988 115 motor only; supposedly with 150 hours. Asking $4500 for it. I requested some additional info so we’ll see. Supreme Marine also says they will have an 85-88 115, but it’s not ready yet. I requested some preliminary info on it also. Both could be good options.

All things being equal would you take a fresh rebuild or a low hour original? I like the idea of low hours but I know with cars an extremely low mileage classic is not always a good thing. They’re not meant to sit that long and causes more issues than easy miles do.

" Supreme Marine also says they will have an 85-88 115, but it’s not ready yet. "

That would be my first choose !

I'd take the local, reputable shop rebuild over the CL random out of state one. (any day, all day)

Agreed. I called Supreme and they’ll let me know when it’s ready! It’s an ‘88 in good condition and low hours (didn’t know exact number). Thinks it got some bad gas and dropped a cylinder. They’ll swap the piston and go over everything to make sure it’s running great. Thank you again for all the help.

88 Sea Ray Seville Bow Rider - $3000 - Reasonable offers considered.

Length: 19'
Weight: 1750
Motor: 115 HP Mercury 2-stroke series 115ELPTO

Motor has been professionally serviced. Great boat that I wish I could keep but it's just not in the cards.

I also have a spare, not-running 135 HP Mercury I'll include for parts as many of them are usable on the 115 HP Merc.
