CVZ 19's; are they rare?
chipbeal:
Hi everyone,
Working on my winter project (CVZ 19) and have a basic question that I should know the answer to. Are they rare (CVZ 19's?) I believe they were only made for 2 years. I have not seen one in the flesh since I bought it. And, I go to a lot of lakes in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota in the summer. How many were made? Did they quit making them because they weren't popular? They seem to be really cool boats (the bowrider style in a low profile boat) that maybe were ahead of their time. Next question, if they are rare, does that increase their value? I'm not even considering selling it but I guess I want to know if it's worth putting all this money into it in case later I do want to sell some day. I know.... lots of questions. Like my title says "I'm a newbie!"
Thanks for your input!

We don't have production numbers as Glastron's records were destroyed in a fire.
There are a few around. Doug in FL has a buddy who's rebuilding one, I owned one and there are a couple more in the FB groups.
Typically, they're not worth anything more than any other used boat. Cool, yes...rare (meh), a CVC-18 is rare, CV-23HT rare'ish, but a CVZ-19, not really rare...more uncommon then rare.
There's usually a couple for sale every year.

Thanks for getting back to me.. I guess they're just rare up here. I'm still going to make this one as nice as possible for me and my family. That's what it's all about anyway. Thanks again!

You are lucky if you see any old Glastron Carlson on the water at the same time as you. They are all "rare" in a way. Just some more than others. Even the rare ones Doran listed are not necessarily worth much more than regular Carlsons as we have seen with the one CV23HT that has popped up. The Corinthian is another one that comes to mind. In the end you will likely loose money when it comes to selling your boat. Nobody makes money restoring any old Glaston. You do it because you love the boat.
Also, I believe the CVZ19 was made 3 years (79-81)

" more uncommon then rare. "
Agreed …
Other models from that time period (GX150, some Metric's & Sprint) only lasted a few years also.
Might have been poor sellers or they changed direction on style.
"Also, I believe the CVZ19 was made 3 years (79-81)"
Agreed ..
