Speed app for Android
« on: July 21, 2019, 10:41:39 AM »
Hey all,

Is anybody using an app on their mobile phone for speed tests?

FYI I'm running an Android.

I found DigiHUD Speedometer in the Play Store. Has anybody used it?

Recommendations appreciated!

I have a hand held GPS that has a " Max Speed" hold feature so I can watch water conditions, tach. and speedo and check after a run to see best speed. Might not be 100% accurate, but give me a idea of performance from run to run. My speedo is with in 1 mph of my GPS so I just use it, and check "Max Speed" on GPS after. Mile's traveled or "Trip" is also a nice feature.

I have Ulysse Speedometer on a spare android phone that I use when I'm on the water.  (If I lose it in the water, no biggie.)

But I've been very happy with it.

I use Navionics on my iPhone but can also be used on Android. Not cheap but includes current, top, and, average speed. Also tracks route. Best part about it the lake maps. I use a RAM mount to mount my phone and there is no way it’s falling off. Below are some screen shots of one of my tracks.

This is all great info - thank you, everyone!

How accurate are the depth charts on the Navionics maps?

Very accurate. You pretty much drive your boat without looking where you are going. Will adjust to tides if you are in that area.

You can see all their maps on their website as well for free.
