43rd Annual Real Runabouts Rendezvous
« on: July 11, 2018, 09:56:04 AM »
43rd Annual Real Runabouts Rendezvous
Presented by the BSLOL Chapter of the ACBS
September 7th and 8th 2018
A bold new approach to make it our best Rendezvous ever.

2017’s BSLOL Rendezvous was one of our most successful ever in terms of participation, spectators and media coverage, despite a rainy show day. But for 2018 the BSLOL’s board is taking a bold step, making boat registration free for all participants who sign up by August 9th. It’s recognition of the commitment you make to prepare and show your boat. And it’s made possible by the generous support of our sponsors. In addition if you sign up by August 9th, the club will be offering the annual Rendezvous Dinner at Lord Fletcher’s for just $25 per person – a $40 value- because we want you all to be there for one of the most memorable evenings of the season.

WHEN & WHERE
It takes place on September 7th and 8th at Minnetonka’s perfect venue: Lord Fletcher’s Old Lake Lodge on Lake Minnetonka, with ample slips, great food and drink and plenty of room for land displays. Lord Fletcher’s Old Lake Lodge is located at 3746 Sunset Dr, in Spring Park, MN …   https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lord+Fletcher/@44.7725242,-93.3891723,15z/data=!3m1!4b1

FRIDAY ACTIVITIES
The Friday cruise and lunch is always a highlight of the weekend and not to be missed. The day will begin at the docks at Lord Fletcher’s at 9:30 am for a captain’s meeting. After a morning of cruising we’ll meet for a picnic lunch at the Minnetonka Power Squadron’s Streeter Cove facility on Big Island. The cruise will also be free, with a charge of $10 per person for lunch (again for early registration by August 9th). After lunch, we’ll continue cruising Lake Minnetonka before ending up back at Lord Fletcher’s for our Rendezvous Dinner.
The club has made arrangements with Lord Fletcher’s to leave our boats overnight on Friday and we’ve also made arrangements with the City of Spring Park to leave your trailer about one block away from Fletchers. (There will be no security there, so remember to bring a lock for your trailer). Trailer parking is located Park Ave just off of Sunset Dr – See map below.

SATURDAY ACTIVITIES
On Saturday please launch your boat and arrive at Fletcher’s docks by 9:00 AM. The boat show opens at 10:00 AM and runs until 4:00 PM, with awards at 3:00 PM. Please keep your boat at the dock until the end of the show, so that there’s plenty to see for late-arriving spectators. Besides the boat show, there will be water and land displays, a swap meet with nautical vendors, and kid’s events including boat painting, kids judging and awards.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
In return for the free registration for this year’s show, we ask one thing: That you reach out to spectators and spread the word about the fun and camaraderie of vintage boating and the advantages of BSLOL membership.
It’s important that we continue to grow the club with more new members and the next generation. As you know, there’s wide misunderstanding among the general public about the cost of buying a vintage boat and the cost and complexity of upkeep. The accessibility and fun of our hobby will be the focus of our outreach to publications and television stations as we make our PR push.
Lord Fletchers also provides the perfect place to offer boat rides to people interested in the hobby. While we want to keep the docks full for the show, we are looking for a few volunteers that can offer short rides on an informal basis. If you’re willing to help with rides or other aspects of the event, please reach out to Steve Shoop at Rendezvous@acbs-bslol.com.
Please join us for a spectacular weekend on Lake Minnetonka. Let’s make 2018’s show one to remember!

Mike we are the few in Nebraska. Most here think an old boat should be crushed instead of restored.

Nebraska isn't that far away. Come on up for the weekend and join us!

The Friday cruise last year was a blast and the lunch out on Big Island was great. The Boat Show at Fletchers is always spectacular and it would be nice to see a selection of Glastrons and Carlsons at the docks.

Hmmm. This does sound fun. I’m gonna wing it though. Will just have to see how things go. I love being in Minnetonka in September and a Friday cruise would be really nice.
