Title: Memorial Day run?
Post by: Bayflite73 on May 18, 2013, 10:52:39 PM
Anyone planning a Memorial Day run? Looks like that will be the first splash down day for us this year. It would be fun to get a group together.

I would prob join you. Got pretty much everything done on the V195 so it should be ready to go and or I can get the 18. Where are you thinking?

No idea actually. We've usually just gone to Square Lake as there's a nice swimming beach/picnic area right next to the launch, but the lake is fairly small. It wouldn't work for a group.

I suppose Forest Lake or Minnetonka will be crazy busy that day.

Any thoughts?

Minnetonka is an option, also one of the rivers.

Saturday or Sunday might be better than Monday

Weather between 69 and 71 Sat through Mon with possibility of rain Sat AM. Saturday or Sunday may be less busy than Memorial Day. I was thinking either the Minnesota River or the Mississippi from St. Anthony Park to the Hastings dam. Do not know if I can make it. Sunday have two things scheduled.

The only warm day this weekend is Monday but with the chance of rain 70 percent. Weekend does not look good. Have not started the outboard motor yet. Do not think I am ready for this weekend.

So much for today. We'll be staying in today, getting the house ready for Emma's grad party and graduation next weekend. Looks like splash day will be Fathers day... hopefully!

Happy memorial day everyone!

Is it just me, or does Father's Day seem really late in the year for splash day?!

I see the rain has finally stopped for a little bit, here - are you guys getting the same stuff?

Oh it's ridiculously late, but between Emma's graduations and then all the grad parties the next weekend.... Just life getting in the way.

Maybe I can find a weeknight right after work, but probably not what with Ben's soccer schedule.

Ugh, what a crazy year.

I agree - last year I was fighting heat ... pulled the carpet out on May 1 to discover the bad floor and my project snowballed.  I was trying to get stuff done under floodlight in the evenings when it would cool a bit.  Now, I can't seem to get more than 2 days without rain in the forecast.  I planned to foam the floor today, but I can't pull the cover off.  No garage & now that I'm on the new trailer, I can't get into the backyard to get under the new deck - I don't have the width to make it through my gate at the proper angle.

Maybe we'll get lucky and our season will be extended in the fall ...

Has really not been many good days. Either snow, rain, cold, or windy. Hopefully soon!
