I DEFFENETLY VOAT FOR PREVENTION, AND THIS TEST IS EASY.
The prep is the worst part. Please follow the directions there usually easy to follow, they seem strange but it is important the diet is specific to food textures and food colors. Usually a diet of certain foods for a day or two, than drink the two nasty tasting large bottles of fluid the (bowel prep) with in a time limit. Plan most of the next day in the bathroom. You will empty! And if you think you are done (wrong you will be running back to the bathroom). I recommend having all your boating magazines in the bathroom. Ask for the test the first available the next day. The test is the easy part, you listen to music, look up at the nurse, feel warm and comfortable next thing you will know it?s done. A cocktail of IV versed and fentanly and you will have no pain or memory of the morning. I had my first one at age 48, I brought my own CD of music. Nice trip, I asked the nurse when they were going to start and she laughed; it was 90 minutes later as she said they were done. Some patients have gas for a day. I had none. I was hungry and treated myself to a lot of good food that day. Did not even know I had the test, no side effects even with multiple biopsies (all negative).
Be smart follow the directions. Think about it! If you are going to go through this test you want the Dr to have a clear view with the camera. I have seen hundreds, a bad prep and you can guess what the camera shows (a bad prep looks like a photograph of the bottom of a muddy lake with Bayliners sticking out here and there). It can add a lot of time, and the DR may not get a good look.
Everyone should have one for their 50th birthday. It is an easy test. A quick look can save you years of the slowest most painful death.
I have found other things to do for work, but there is still someone out there to give you the drugs, I can?t promise they will play Jimmie Hendrix for you like I would have. I have awards for the happiest patients with the safety of the least amount of drugs.
