OK ... so my friends old 89 Chevy Corsica's air croaked very suddenly yesterday. I had her bring it by the house, I thought maybe it was simply low on freon or what ever they put in these things now. It got dark before I could do much so she just drove it into work today (15 miles) and before she got there it seemed to seize the clutch. She has owned the car only for a couple years but it has only 96k miles. Air was ice cold up until yesterday. Today she went and picked up an reman compressor after taking it into a shop (shop she has used for years for oil and other car repairs as well as being well recommended) where she was told the compressor was shot. Seemed logical. On the way home tonight, I got another call. The reman'd comprsson quit cooling too. Had her come to my office and looked at it. Was turning free and smooth but no cooling. After a few min an oder presented it'self and after raising the hood, found the A/C clutch smoking. Was cooling fine after the install she said. ...... Short story long ....
is there a electrical issue that would cause A/C compressor failure? Two compressors both going out in the same fashion within 2 days?
I know the Chevy Corsica is not exactly cutting edge but it has been completely trouble free till this.
Anyone got an idea? Short of taking back and putting ANOTHER compressor on it I do not.
