GT-160 or CV-16
« on: August 02, 2022, 02:42:12 PM »
Wanting to get another boat. Opinions of which is better, a GT-160 or CV-16? I have had a CV-19 so not a whole lot of difference with the CV-16. I love the look of a GT-160 with a Tower of Power on it. Looks amazing yo me. But if you had both boats with same power plant which one is better?

Tough choice, but if I absolutely hard to choose I'd oot for the GT-160, just has a certain stronger James Bond look to it, especially with the accent stripes on the bow.    Please dont flame me CV owners, I'd love a CV-21, just too rare/expensive.

My 2 cents ..
GT has better seat lay out
CV has sparkly paint
Everything else is a wash ..
Really can't go wrong with either

Funny. I asked the exact same question in 2006 before I got my CV16. Both beautiful boats. I ended up going with the cv16ss mostly as I wanted an I/O and ?sparkly paint?. 16 years later I still have my cv16 and still love it.

I haven't been in a CV16 but I have multiple GT160s and CVXs. I would say that the CVX rides better overall. The GTs skate a lot and are much lighter. Both are fun and I love both of them, so I would have a hard time choosing. Go with the one that pulls on your emotions more.

The CV16 and the CVX16 are cool boats , but the GT160 is a much rarer boat , there isn't much difference in performance between the 3 . They're all 55 mph chinewalkers , reworking the bottoms would solve that . I'd go with a GT160 they're a mini version of a CV21 . Man I miss that little 160 , it was a rocket .

GIL_CV21. I have been following you for a long time and I had a CV-21 a couple years back that I bought but just required so much work. Luckily a CV-21 just popped up and I made a deal for it overnight. I have to agree though with the looks of the GT-160 being a little brother to a CV-21. I would love to have a CV-21 and a GT-160 parked in the yard. I do think the GT-160 is a better looking boat than a CV-16, but the CV-16 comes up for sale a lot. I was looking for another boat when a really nice CV-16 came around but luckily someone beat me to it then this CV-21 all of a sudden popped up. I really have to thank Hyperacme for doing all the work updating the for sale listings like he does. I?m sure it takes a bit of work to keep it updated!
