Period correct and gorgeous, but how do you keep it clean with beach outings.  Beautiful work Jeff, can't wait to see it.

Mike the carpet is temporary, cannot buy carpet (covid) bought a rug just to throw in to have something there.

Trying to keep it clean will be a nightmare  probably hold about 200 lbs of sand before you would notice.

I have some 80/20 loop picked out that I will install when it becomes available there limiting it to 1yd as of now.

Changed out alternator now charging at 14 volts.

Took out this evening over heating issue. Which I believe was a result of a spun coupler.

So I guess the motor needs to come out and address the issue of a spun coupler and why.

Been sitting a long time, maybe with the rot, the coupler took a set out of alignment and it just beat itself up running it again?

Coupler between engine and drive?   I had that happen to the CVX-18.  The left motor mount bolt had worked loose.   It was still on there and the alignment was great when sitting,  but under heavy load the left side of the engine was lifting up the misalignment at speed was wearing the aluminum coupler each time.  Finally it let loose on Minnetonka, lost forward and temp started spiking.  Had to shut down and tow in.

Chad Same thing temp spiked stayed up around 180.  Forward try to add power it was the clutch was slipping.

Pull the motor this morning with help from Scott Anderson 45 minutes it was out.

Tim had a new coupler ran to Red Wing picked it up, installed motor back in the boat.

Working on a perfect alignment have not been able to achieve that yet looking for some help.

Other than the coupler everything else is good.

Alignment can be difficult complicated further by the gimbal bearing wanting to be pointing somewhere else.   Just a suggestion, but this is what I do and it seems to work well.  I start with a short piece of  pvc tubing that I sanded to fit snugly in coupler.  I then adjust engine to center that in the gimbal bearing.  After that the alignment tool can be inserted and with a few taps the bearing aligns.  Last step is using some grease on the alignment tool and checking the pattern the coupler makes.  Just curious, did you fit the new coupler on the drive before installation to check the splines match up smoothly?  It only takes a small burr to make the process difficult.  Hope this helps.

You following the Mercruiser procedure to 'set' the coupler into alignment?  (4 whacks on the alignment tool from all four directions?)  My CVZ wouldn't align either...once I did that, it went in like butter.
