Any trailer should be about level when trailing, close is generally good.  You could use the same drop as before assuming the receiver hitch point is the same height as before.  Single axle trailers are more forgiving being off level than tandems.  I use the same 3" drop on my excursion for everything, no issues, but not every trailer is level.

Here's what I have. Costs a little more, if you can find one, and  its fully adjustable. You can set it for a rise, or a drop.

When I pick up the new boat & trailer, I'm switching to a Lock N Roll articulating hitch setup.  Same for the offroad trailer.
