oversized rollers on my Dilly Trailer
« on: August 05, 2020, 07:23:45 PM »
I lost a post- this may be a repeat---My Dilly Trailer has 4 roller brackets that measure 12.5 inches and my front roller is 12 " my 2nd and 3rd roller are 11 3/4 inches and my fourth is 11 7/8 . I also thought I had grey carpet bunks but when I cleaned them off I found them to be shag carpet yellow and green! kinda cool for a 70s boat. I am having a hard time finding these sizes in rollers. I can replace the brackets if I have to. All the rollers do work but have cosmetic flaws from wear.

Oh, you mean the keel rollers.  I found a decent selection at etrailer and on iboats, but it's been several years.   Not certain how much the really come into play when loading.  Both of my glastrons sit about 2" higher than the rollers.

2 Inches higher? my boat is right on the ( keel ) rollers and then supported on the side bunks in back and there is one more set of small side guide rollers under the back-in this photo from a year or so ago you can see how it is resting on the first one and its like that all the way back-hmm maybe this is not set up right? I looked at e trailers-- Ill check I boats--we have that here in Salt Lake City ( UT ) about 100 miles from me

When I got the 179 i parted out it came with a dilly trailer also. Just a single axle though. Same bunk set up as yours and the keel rested on the rollers. I am going to add a set of flat bunks to support the keel to my dilly and then put wider boards on the vertical bunks. I do not like the keel sitting on the rollers.

Btw your trailer looks way nicer than mine. I need to get it sand blasted and repaint it.

I did finish my trailer rebuild now, I added 4 black side foam type covers to the 4 side guides after this photo. Guess Ill leave the keel on the rollers as it worked fine for 47 years. and I'm not sure how to change it
