Was that the timi that a tree fell on and tore out the dash/steering area?

That’s an ambitious project… I can’t wait to see all these intimidators lined up on the beach.

Yes, this is the “tree” boat.. I was looking at it the last time it came up for sale but the timing wasn’t right.. this time I couldn’t pass it up.  It looks a lot better up front. The transom and floor was done before the tree incident and it still looks ok.  Just the tree damage, the piece fits back in fairly easy. Most all the parts are there, except for windshield, windshield post, console and right transom trim. But I think I know someone that has some...  :)  can’t decide if its emerald green or blue?  It looks like fading to emerald but blue under the vent on the side..     I post more when I get into it deeper.

That blue seems to fade to green, maybe yellowing of the clear?   Group seems to be migrating to Timi's and 23's.    I doubt mine will be ready for water by August, but hopefully next year.   Good luck with your new project!

BTW, I got the decal, much larger in person than it looked in the pictures.

Well... I got into it.... DON’T use green treated plywood to rebuild these boats!! The fiberglass doesn’t stick..  floor and transom were junk.. oh well, that’s why we call it a labor of love..

I was looking through all the parts that came with the timi and most are there, but the 2 sets of exhaust logs that came with have two different outlets.. the silver ones have what looks like a baffling on them and the black ones don’t. My question is which ones are better and could I use either ones?   Although the silver ones were not drained the last time they were on a motor and are cracked and probably no good... I will probably use the black ones but I’d like to know if either style is better..

Never seen silver logs before, just painted iron ones?  I guess I always thought the Timi's used center rise manifolds, not the log type.  Maybe a model year difference.  The internal baffle extends the length of dry exhaust before dumping the wastewater.  Given the difference in length, I'd doubt you would notice a difference in performance.  Might be a tad louder?    If you were going FI, I'd use the silver to keep the O2 sensor dry.

The black ones were what was on my Intimidator when i got it.  I think the difference is just where the water meets the exhaust. Further back would be better considering the amount of slope the log style has in these boats.

The “hin” is on the card. I was looking for color.. I see the LB so I’m thinking it’s the laser blue. The boat is very faded and looks like emerald and I want the blue so that will probably be the color.  It’s coming along good.. transom, stringers and floor are in. Once that’s finished being glassed in I’ll start on the top.    I know I’ve seen actual colors of sparkle paint. Anyone know where they are at?

I'm having a hard time seeing HIN on picture ..

Jeff got his sparkly paint off eBay .. He'll have to post link.
Said to be a good supplier.

Spectrum Color was original supplier .. I think.

Roth Flake ..

Kip's brother had his Timmi painted .. Pictures DON'T do it justice !
I the sun light it was AMAZING !

The HIN on your stern would have year & month in it.
Card looks like just builder code and hull number.
Unless I'm not seeing it on card.

I definitely didn't use enough flake on my boat.  I think i only used a 2oz container for my CV16.  I really need to redo that lol.  How do you even order a pound of it?

Will it be MF blue & blue ?

Roth sells it in 2,4,6,8,16 oz.  And hoping 16 will be enough.. there is a base coat of the same color so it should be very sparkly.... and I’m going for the light blue with dark blue sparkle like yours Gregg.

How about  foam?  I want to refill the foam boxes in the back. What do you guys use and where can I get some?   I’ve head talk about open and closed cell?  The difference?   Something better then the stuff you can find at manards, Home Depot??

You'll want to use the 2lb marine foam made for the purpose, none of the big box stores carry the correct stuff.  I've purchased from US composites online, but we don't have a store nearby like you have in the twin cities.

Well... DAMN BRYAN! That was a very fast project. My all time favorite color scheme. Love it. Wanted to go the same way back then but since my CVX16 was the same color I went with something else and stuck with the original.
Can’t wait to see it finished.
Someone across the pond is gonna be very jealous, not just cause of the exhaust tips at this point ;-)

Btw the silver logs were the ones that were mounted on the other Timi at the anniversary meeting if I’m seeing correct. They also have a sparkle to them don’t they?

Fast.?!?!    It’s been almost 11 weeks!    2-4 hours a night and some rainy weekends at around 30+ hours each that we couldn’t take one of the other boats out.. and a very understanding wife who loves the hobby also and lets me do this stuff.... by the way there is a honey do list that almost lasts all winter.... Give and take gentle men....    besides I just couldn’t see this one getting “parted out” Just because of a little tree mishap...                             KEEP EM ON THE WATER!!

You've done a great job saving a Timi!  On another thread related to tree damage, you posted a pic of the dash damage, but what caught my eye was the outdrive laying in pieces in the floor.  It looks to be a mc1 pre alpha, but the lower unit has a nose cone.  Interested to know if you put this drive to use or replaced it.
Title: Re: I told the wife I was only going to do one more.....
Post by: nes-cv23 on August 11, 2020, 06:19:09 PM
You see correctly, how ever all those parts are junk... the logs and risers were not winterized and cracked, the lower has a nose cone on it but the gears must have locked up and cracked the sides.. so with my 23 needing a complete rebuild I am using all the motor and outdrive parts from that. I just had the motor rebuilt last year and is pushing 350’ish  hp so I know it will run great in the smaller timi.     ;D

Tell us how it fits! On FB loads of people have been complaining lately bout the fitting and the quality. Some even got broke windscreens and the great UPD customer service didn’t care.

This one had no rails or ladder on it when I started, and I think I’m going to leave them off. Looks better with out to me also.  Just need to make the wood strips for the step.      And if anyone want this ladder I found when I did some garage cleaning your welcome to it. Should buff out nice.  I’m not sure which parts boat it came off of but it is a glastron ladder.  If you want shipped, that’s up to you.

I added one similar to that to our 23. Jason mentioned the original 23 ladders are a little short making it a little difficult to get in so I shelved the original ladder I have for this one(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200922/4ddd3b9104c0b463106ac37d9ea5308c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200922/41cdca93129b4d63ae98f007e03a8f02.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200922/33be9855bcaac84db7c5dc36d891d5e9.jpg)

That is much better! I’ve thought a few times of swapping mine out. Does it lock down when folded up? Rattle around?

It doesn't lock down.  I suppose I could mount a cover snap to the ladder to secure it.  We have only had it out once with that ladder but I didn't notice any additional noise.

Something is missing!!     :o   You guessed it, no timi.... :'(    Just before we headed out I tried to start her as I always do before we head out,  the starter was dead!   So we took emmers and left timi at home...  still a nice day.  Cloudy and cold, but the fire was big and the company was good. Leaves are almost peek.  You just have to get out whenever you can at this time of year..   new starter today and then we’ll try again next weekend.

Has anyone out there ever had the start on a key switch go bad??     I pulled the starter and checked it, disconnected the neutral switch, all fuse’s ... the only thing I can think of next, is the key switch.   Any ideas guys?    I got a new key switch for it today and will let you’all know tomorrow...

A quick check would be to jump the start solenoid wire to battery at the keyswitch.  Possible neutral safety switch in the shift/throttle mechanism also inhibits the start line.  But to answer your question, yes, ignition switches do go bad.  The start contacts as well if not diode protected.

With a 3 blade 21 pitch ss . I have a couple other props and with those I think I can get past 60.    By the way if you look on the one picture there are 6 glastrons lined up. Ending with Joe, Lori, Linda, Louis, ??? I know it stars with a L.  ;D
