If your trim is not working that would explain the plowing.... Got to get that fixed before you test any props

I have the new solenoid, and I can get at all the bolts, but I can't hold the back of the 2 bolts that hold the solenoid without removing the pump. It went in without much trouble, but there wasn't anything else in there. To get my fat azz in there I might have to take the seat and counsel out.

Try a 24" Chopper, 24" Laser II, and a 24" Trophy. Trial and error until you find the fastest.

I think a 24" is way too much prop except maybe a chopper because it should go faster and have a lot more slip. To get to 6500 RPM I think a 19 or 21 might be the right one. the 23" 4 blade was way too much bite. The other thing I read was you need some chop to get the GT160 out of the water. Just a bad design, or add a pad. ????? thoughts?

Cool temp's and some chop would be the best for testing top end.
Believe all hull's like that water condition, less hull in the water ...
It would be nice to test a bunch of props on the same day, as a different day will get different results from same prop ...

With any prop ... Ya never know until ya try it !

The GT160 should not be hard to get up on a plane. The props that may be hard to get up on are over the hub exhaust choppers and cleavers. They do not like heavy loads or weight in the back. My SRX is not hard to get up with the motor tilted all the way in. As the boat gets up on plane, start tilting the motor out.

Jerry, 6,500 RPM seems too high for even your motor - 5,700 to 5,900 seems more reasonable to match props with. My SRX 23" is turning 5,500 RPM going 56.6 MPH. Guess a 22" for you would be about right, but not a 19".

When you start building high performance Mercury motors you can set the limits. I was told by Chris Carson PROP IT FOR 6500 AND DON'T LUG IT"
